Observing Essay
Helen Keller once said that “the best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched, they must be felt with the heart”. That is the true definition of friendship to me. Her hair is somewhat of a curtain of chestnut, maybe even a waterfall of auburn, her eyes are that color of the ocean. As she walks down the paths of campus, I always think to myself, who is she, and what is her story. She is one of those girls who is so complex and there is so many admirable traits. Gladly, I call this girl one of my best friends. As you take a step back from everything, and just think about it, how does friendship work? Most people are not much different from a leaf that blows down the street. They are there only for a short period of time Out of all of the people in Pittsburg, its two people, creating a bond and being able to trust them with anything and everything. Courtney Johnson is a Freshman here at Pittsburg State University, and she is the girl that I automatically clicked with since day one. Her hair is so long that it reaches the middle of her lower back and all you want to do is get under it so that you can hide from everything so that you can become part of her world. Her face is somewhat round and automatically draws my attention every time I see her. I watch her walk down the street and I notice, that she has a subtle strut in her step, like she walks with a purpose everywhere she goes. When I looked upon her from head to toe, it seems as though the beauty of her legs continued from her waist to the tip of her toes. She had a slight hourglass shaped body with a super long torso. She is an average sized girl, maybe a little on the taller side, but nothing as close to my height. She wears vibrantly colored clothes, of all assortment. I have seen her closet, and it is full of clothes from several different stores. Courtney loves to dress up, today, it is about 30 degrees outside and she is wearing a pair of leggings with aztec print

In The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz, the reader is led through the novel with a lot of uncertain thoughts and questions about the main characters, one in particular Oscar Wao. When I first started working on the assignment my topic was what and who is a real Dominican man? What characteristics does a true Dominican man have? Why isn’t Oscar like all the other Dominican Men? I found it strange that as I began to look through passages I was finding more of what the opposite of a real Dominican man was. The narrator seemed to mostly use the main character Oscar Wao to show the good and bad in Dominican man. In the first chapter we see that progression of Oscar Wao from being a “typical” Dominican man to miserably failing the “so-called” characteristics and personality of a real Dominican man. My goal of this paper is to examine certain passages to get a clearer idea of what characters fall into Yunior’s placement of a real Dominican Man. It seems as though the narrator is defining a real Dominican Man as one that doesn’t really care about girls and takes advantage of them. Also it seems that many people use the words “typical” and “normal” to describe a true Dominican Man, I wonder if they mean a typical/normal man is one that has the perfect looks and so called perfect personality. But to me it seems as though the personality part is defined as being a jerk. I am going to do this by looking through passages and interpret what I believe the narrator is trying to convince the readers.…

On Monday October 16, 2006 at 12:00 pm I sat down with eight white males while they ate lunch. My intentions were simple; to observe a few normal men while in their most comfortable atmosphere. I wanted to get a feel for what guys talk about with their friends and what manner they go about discussing it in. I theorized that in the lunch room at a table with a group of friends was the perfect place to bond and socialize. Coming into the experiment I expected to hear endless conversation about sports, women, jokes, and the weekend. The interactions between the men were easy-going and useful to my study. The participants made me feel accepted and comfortable while observing their interactions with one another.…

Friendship is the time that we were blasting eighties music while driving around town, all off key at the top of our lungs, but enjoying every second of it. Even a year later, when I hear that same song on the radio, it takes me back to the special times I shared with such special people. Friendship is about being able to just sit around someone’s house, and still being able to have a good time. It is silent conversations, late night talks, finishing each other’s sentences and shared secrets. It is a lifetime filled with shared memories of laughter and love. Friendship is truer and rarer than the deepest of loves because best friends really are…

True friends are like diamonds, precious and rare. False friends are like dirt, found everywhere. Friendship should never be a difficult thing; it should always be the easiest thing in life. An insincere and evil friend is more to be feared than a wild beast; a wild beast may wound your body, but an evil friend will wound your mind. A true friend is a hand that is always holding yours, no matter how close or far apart you may be, someone who is always there and will always, always care, a feeling of forever in the heart. A best friend is the greatest of all blessings, and that which we take the least care of all to acquire. The most valuable thing in life is to have a friend, a true friend.…
