I am a well off, law obeying, businessman of the third class. I take pride in being a honest man making a honest living, I have never robbed, cheated or hurt anybody, I even pay my taxes on time but lately I have started to wonder…… where has all the money I have been giving to the government been going? Is it being used for the good of the people? Then a few days ago, it was revealed to us, the third estate that the king’s wife, Marie Antoinette has been using our hard earned money for herself, and has even managed to horde some of it! This is outrages! Our poor workers are over straining themselves just to finance her clothes?! It is honestly no wonder France is going through a financial plunge. Isn’t she supposed to be the wife of our king? Isn’t the king supposed to be chosen by god? I do not think that God would have sat still while the king’s wife sucked the country dry of funds, adding to the debt of France and the downfall of her own country. As for the king, the king has been trained to choose a fit wife to rule alongside him be it for creating mutual bonds and alliances with other sovereign countries. If he has, by the slightest chance, chosen such a wife he must take responsibility and guide her for the better of the nation. He doesn't do so! He lets her continue with her flamboyant actions causing the nation, his home, to crumble. He is a disgrace and unfit to rule if he cannot stop one of the main roots of the country’s debt…

The first and second inaugural addresses compare and contrast in many ways to show the different views of national identity that Abraham Lincoln shows throughout the speeches. They compare because of issues to end the war or defuse the possibility of war. They contrast in many ways also, in the first address Lincoln believes that the issue of a war will pass over the country and not be much of an issue. He also gives chances to the people that have started this conversation to end what they started. Whereas in the second inaugural address lincoln takes a more religious approach. Lastly, the issue of slavery is very different during the two inaugural addresses.…

While I agree with you that there are plenty of other issues going on in the world that needs to be addressed; however, I do think that this is one of those issues. I believe that this is a problem because it still stands for a country that no longer represents what those words have to say. Keeping those words in the Pledge of Allegiance only further promotes reasons for people to point out those that are different. I'm not religious at all and I have never been. I was forced as a child to go to church and I was forced to recite the Pledge of Allegiance every day at school. It always made me feel uncomfortable to say under God because I never felt that it represented me and what I thought our country stood for. We can't keep saying…

France is at a critical point in its history something needs to change if we are to stay united as one France. As of now the national assembly wants to take away the church’s land and change the tradition of the Catholic Church in France. The Civil Constitution of the Clergy wants Church officials to be elected instead of appointed. Elections are not subject to papal confirmation which means that the new bishop may not apply to the pope for any form of confirmation. The new constitution states that the clergy must swear an oath to France first and God and the pope second. They want us to become loyal servants of the state instead of servants of God and the church. This is the direction that France is going in if the Civil Constitution of the…

    The Hippocratic Oath

The Hippocratic Oath is basically talking about Hippocratic’s promise when treat the patients as a physician. His words implies his loyal and steadfast to be responsible to each and every of his patients, however, some of his decisions differs from the modern ethics. Especially the words about refusal to offer others deadly medicine and never allow women to produce abortion (Hippocratic), it quite different from what the modern ethics considers today. The action of physician-assisted suicide and the abortion are what doctors nowadays work on, and both of them are highly debatable and clearly related to ethics. I think the difference between the ancient and modern ethics are caused by the flow of the time and the change of people’s mind, as the social becomes more and more liberal, people are also much open minded then before, which influences the view of the doctors as well.…

If we look to the laws, they afford equal justice to all in their private differences...if a man is able to serve the state, he is not hindered by the obscurity of his condition. The freedom we enjoy in our government extends also to our ordinary life. There, far from exercising a jealous surveillance over each other, we do not feel called upon to be angry with our neighbour for doing what he likes..."[13] These lines form the roots of the famous phrase "equal justice under law." The liberality of which Pericles spoke also extended to Athens' foreign policy: "We throw open our city to the world, and never by alien acts exclude foreigners from any opportunity of learning or observing, although the eyes of an enemy may occasionally profit by our liberality..."[14] Yet Athens' values of equality and openness do not, according to Pericles, hinder Athens' greatness, indeed, they enhance it, "...advancement in public life falls to reputations for capacity, class considerations not being allowed to interfere with merit...our ordinary citizens, though occupied with the pursuits of industry, are still fair judges of public matters...at Athens we live exactly as we please, and yet are just as ready to encounter every legitimate danger."[15]…
