1. DISARMAMENT
FULLY AWARE OF THE UNITED NATION’S EFFORTS AGAINST NUCLEAR WEAPONRY AND WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION, EGYPT JOINED THE NUCLEAR NON-PROLIFERATION TREATY IN 1980 AND HAS SINCE MAINTAINED THE GUIDELINES OF THE TREATY. ALMOST THE WHOLE OF THE MIDDLE EASTERN REGION IS NUCLEAR WEAPON FREE EXCEPT ISRAEL AND PAKISTAN. EGYPT HAS CALLED FOR PRODUCTION OF NUCLEAR WEAPONRY TO BE STOPPED. ISRAEL HOWEVER REFUSES TO ABANDON IT’S NUCLEAR AMBITIONS. IRAQ IS NOW SHOWING INTEREST IN DEVELOPING NUCLEAR WEAPONRY MUCH TO THE THE DISAPPROVAL OF EGYPT AND HER PEOPLE. RECALLING THE EFFECTS OF THE HIROSHIMA AND NAGASAKI BOMBINGS, THE CHERNOBYL DISASTER AND MORE RECENTLY THE FUKUSHIMA DISASTER IN JAPAN, EGYPT BELIEVES THAT NUCLEAR POWER IF USED FOR VIOLENCE AND HANDLED IMPROPERLY CAN HAVE DISASTROUS CONSEQUENCES. EGYPT BELIEVES THAT STRONGER LAWS AGAINST PRODUCTION OF NUCLEAR WEAPONS, SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE IN THE PRICE OF MATERIALS USED FOR MANUFACTURE OF NUCLEAR WEAPONS, CONSTANT CHECK ON THE NUCLEAR WEAPON BLACK MARKET IN THE MIDDLE EAST AND CO-OPERATION OF EACH AND EVERY COUNTRY RECOGNISED BY THE UN WILL HELP IN DISARMAMENT. EGYPT ALSO BELIEVES THAT THE AMOUNT OF MONEY SET ASIDE BY COUNTRIES DEDICATED TO THE PURCHASE OF ARMS SHOULD BE REDUCED TO HELP IN DISARMAMENT. IF THE ARMS RACE GOES UNCHECKED THE WORLD STANDS AT A RISK OF ANOTHER WORLD WAR. DUE TO THE ARMS RACE SMALLER DEVELOPING COUNTRIES SET ASIDE MORE AND MORE MONEY DEDICATED TO MANUFACTURING AND PURCHASING WEAPONRY AT THE COST OF PUBLIC HEALTH,SANITATION AND EDUCATION FUNDS. THE ISSUE OF DISARMAMENT IS SERIOUS AND MUST NOT BE TAKEN LIGHTLY.THE ISSUE OF DISARMAMENT MAY BE ADDED EITHER TO THE NPT OR THE ARMS TRADE TREATY

2.LIMITATIONS OF FOREIGN INTERVENTION IN WAR PRONE AREAS
KEEPING IN MIND THE CHALLENGES FACED BY DEVELOPING COUNTRIES EGYPT STRONGLY BELIEVES IN FOREIGN AID UNDER THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS-
1. THE COUNTRY IS A WAR PRONE AREA AND/OR FACES THE THREAT OF TERRORISM
2. THE COUNTRY NEEDS FOREIGN AID TO HELP CIVILIANS AFFECTED BY WAR AS IT IS INCAPABLE OF DOING SO ON IT’S OWN
3. THE COUNTRY FORMALLY REQUESTS FOREIGN AID IN IT’S AFFAIRS
4. OTHER NATIONS BELIEVE THE CONFLICT BETWEEN THE COUNTRIES INVOLVED POSES A GLOBAL THREAT AND ENDANGERS THE LIFE OF CIVILIANS
NOTING THE REQUIREMENTS EGYPT ALSO WISHES TO HIGHLIGHT THE LIMITATIONS OF FOREIGN INTERVENTION. FOREIGN AID CARRIES THE RISK OF PUTTINGA COUNTRY WHO PROVIDES MILITARY AID TO ANOTHER COUNTRY AGAINST THE OPPOSING COUNTRY THUS ADDING ANOTHER COUNTRY IN AN ALREADY TENSE SITUATION. USA’S INTERVENTION IN THE AFGHANISTAN CIVIL WAR( WHILE APPRECIATED) DID MORE HARM THAN GOOD AS THE TALIBAN ARE STILL PRESENT AND EVEN THOUGH ASHRAF GHANI IS THE DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED PRESENT THE COUNTRY STILL FACES THE RISK OF THE TALIBAN AND THEIR TERRORIST ACTIVITIES. USA’S AID TO SYRIA AGAINST THE ISLAMIC STATE IN IRAQ AND SYRIA IS APPRECIATED BUT HAS NOW ADDED USA ON THE LIST OF ISIS’S TARGETS. THE SITUATION INT THE MIDDLE EAST DUE TO FOREIGN AID IS TENSE. USA’S AID TO ISRAEL IS CONDEMNED AS IT ENCOURAGES ISRAEL TO PURSUE IT’S NUCLEAR WEAPON AMBITIONS. EGYPT BELIEVES FOREIGN INTERVENTION WHILE NECESSARY IN SOME CASES MAY NOT ALWAYS BE HELPFUL ESPECIALLY IF THE COUNTRY PROVIDING FOREIGN AID TO ANOTHER COUNTRY IS DOING SO SOLELY FOR ECONOMIC PURPOSES AND IS PROMOTING IT’S OWN HIDDEN MOTIVES. THIS CARRIES THE RISK OF A NATION BEING COMPLETELY WIPED OUT. THUS EGYPT FEELS THAT FOREIGN INTERVENTION IN THE CASE OF MILITARY AID AGAINST TERRORISTS AND MEDICAL AID TO CIVILIANS AFFECTED BY WAR IS NECESSARY, AID TO COUNTRIES THAT IS DONE SOLELY ON ECONOMIC AND HIDDEN MOTIVES IS CONDEMNED BY EGYPT.

EGYPT WISHES TO COMMEND ALL THE COUNTRIES THAT HAVE TAKEN A CONSCIOUS STEP TOWARDS DISARMAMENT AND ARE SLOWLY INCHING TOWARDS MAKING THEMSELVES WEAPON FREE. WEAPONRY HAS CAUSED WIDESPREAD DESTRUCTION SINCE TIME IMMEMORIAL FROM WORLD WAR I TO WORLD WAR II TECHNOLOGY HAS SEEN GREAT ADVANCEMENTS AND HAS ALSO CONTRIBUTED TO THE INVENTION OF NEWER, STRONGER WEAPONS AND HAS ALSO DESTROYED MILLIONS OF LIVES. TECHNOLOGY IS THE REASON LIFE IS AS EASY AS WE KNOW IT TODAY HOWEVER TECHNOLOGY IS ALSO THE REASON FOR THE INVENTION OF THE A BOMB AND NUCLEAR WEAPONRY. TECHNOLOGY WHEN USED FOR FRUITFUL PURPOSES HAS DELIGHTFUL EFFECTS BUT IF USED FOR VIOLENT PURPOSES HAS DISASTROUS CONSEQUENCES.
