You go out there and see what the community is lacking and help improve it. As a school nurse, you start educating the school age children, at the primary level. You are assessing children to catch any abnormalities early on in age, such as acanthosis nigricans, which is a sign of prediabetes. From immunizations, to vision & hearing, to spinal check for any deviations. As a school nurse, you make sure that the children are screen for TB, and if tested positive, she refers them to an affordable care center, and educates them on the importance to taking all the medications until completed.
