Bacteria and Great Benefit
Conclusion Genetically modified organisms have their good and bad points. They can produce more food and provide many benefits to humans. But they can also be detrimental if not used properly. They can mix with non genetically modified crops and ruin a farmers business. Pesticides in plants can be a great benefit but they can damage the environment and be poisonous to the consumer. There is a lot of conflict over whether genetically modified organisms are good or bad for us and there is no way to know until either something really good or something really bad comes out of it.

Genetically modified organisms have been a controversial subject since their discovery throughout the world. While arguments are made that some of these organisms can benefit people, most of these unnatural organisms contaminate the environment. Many say that not enough research has been done to know what these organisms are capable of doing to the environment and the health of the population. Genetically modified food should be researched thoroughly to assure the public that these crops are either safe or harmful to the environment or to themselves.…

How would you feel if I told you that the food you're eating was made in a science lab? Genetically modified organisms, or GMOs, are the outcome of a laboratory process where genes from the DNA of one species are extracted and artificially manipulated into the genes of an uncorrelated plant or animal. Crops are often genetically modified to be resistant to pesticides so farmers would be able to spray them without harming the crop itself. However, there are many consequences regarding consumers’ health and environmental problems. Many people question the safety of consuming genetically modified organisms. Companies should acknowledge that their product is genetically modified by placing a label on the product because customers have a right to know. Furthermore, there are several serious health complications that may rise to the consumer. And finally, genetically modifying organisms should be limited by being placed in a controlled environment to prevent contamination with other species because it can be harmful to the environment in several ways.…

Genetically modified foods are beneficial for our society because of the nutrients that may be added to foods and the greater ability to produce these foods. While some people argue that genetic modification is still a new technology that should be researched further, others will agree that the benefits definitely outweigh the drawbacks. Society today has all kinds of new technology at its fingertips and should be allowed to use this technology to enhance certain things to better the world.…

Genetic modified foods can be very beneficial to farmers who have loss crops from pests and insects that eat them. Originally farmers used chemical pesticide annually to kill pests however; they found that consumers would not eat the food as it was a health hazard. Also it had harmed the environment as the pesticide would poison the water supply. By having genetically modifying crops food can be protected from insects and pests. Bacillus thuringiensis(BT) Corn is an example of a genetically modified crop, which contains delta endotoxins and when insects are exposed to this the toxins will paralyse the insect’s digestive system and kill it. Hence GM foods can be very beneficial as the production of agriculture will be less damaged.…

The risks to our health and exposed for using genetically modified crops or plants have not been yet proven because we are too early in the game of this genetically modification and engineering process. Thinking that this is a small solution to our problem for hunger and feeding Americans, then maybe they are just creating more problems that may not have solutions for in the future. However, the US National Academy of Science, Engineering and Medicine, states otherwise. In a new report that details how genetically modified organisms are apparently safe for human consumption and surprisingly, also have significant benefits for human health and the environment(FDA.org). They base their findings on an intensive and detailed report with past studies about GMOs. The many interviews with scientists, researchers and field experts that have data stating that they are not bad for one’s health. This helps determine whether it is good or bad for the health when it comes to eating genetical modified foods. They even have a new study that suggests that when crops are being engineered to improve human health, by altered to produce more vitamins or nutrients. This might be one good side of it, but why should we playing with mother nature? This is a big gamble we are…

Genetically Modified Foods, sounds like it is helping the world, by increasing yields of crops, and making it possible to grow any type of crop in its unnatural environment. However there is some disadvantages, it is believed that there may be unknown health risks, it could be dangerous to some insects, as the new genes of the crops could be harmful to certain insects like butterflies, which aren’t potentially dangerous to these crops. It could also cause a threat to the environment, due to the fact that it is not a natural way to grow…

A GMO is created when DNA from one organism is combined with another organism’s DNA to make one molecule. With genetic engineering they can make bigger and more nutritious fruit and vegetables. Human embryos can be genetically modified in case it might have a chance of having a disease. If breast cancer is commonly found in a family the scientists can engineer the embryo so that it does not receive that trait. Trees and fruits that are genetically modified can be grown so that pesticides grow naturally in them. Scientific and social arguments and evidence in support of the topic GMOs can benefit the world in many ways. They can provide more vegetables and fruits compared to non GMOs. (Clarice Swisher, 11/30/09, p.43). Selective breeding was the earliest form of genetic engineering in which farmers would pick the biggest or best looking crops and breed them together to produce better and bigger crops. Also scientists sometimes bred different plants together to create an even better plant. Genetically modifying crops is beneficial to humans because they can provide more food while saving money. Some crops are modified to be resistant to viruses such as corn. Others crops such as cotton can be resistant to pests. These modifications create a large advantage over other non GM plants. Some cotton in India was modified so that it grew its own pesticide and it also greatly increased the yield of the cotton.…

Genetically modified food may be everywhere, but people are uninformed of what they consume. Its advantages may be helpful. It could help fight world hunger, but at the same time it is slowly killing us. People should try to stop the production of these foods and increase the production of organic foods. A solution to his is, when people pay tax, some of the tax money should also go towards proving organic foods for everyone. Taking care of what we consume is essential. By doing this, the side effects of genetically modified foods would disappear. Certain diseases caused by these foods are people having food allergies and obesity. Sometimes people may react to the modified food in different ways and possibly cause an allergic reaction. The growth hormones added into the food is another reason why many people in the world are obese.…
