NOT ONLY TEACH BUT ALSO EDUCATE Most of people’s mainstream today is the one who can teach and educate the lesson is the teacher. It caused by the work place of the teacher is in the building named school, so everybody does not pay attention about teaching and educating. They think that those are the teacher’s obligation. That such mainstream is causing the careless of the parent or guardian of the student at home about teaching and educating beyond the school. The example for this case is a phenomenon that is parents do not want invites their children to study over again about their lesson in home. In their thought their children was study the lesson with their teacher in the school so they do not have to invite them to study over again in home.
Another example is when their children will have an examination of their subjects; they do not pay the attention about how is the way or process of study of their children. This action is not good for them who has child in the elementary grade. In this age, the children should have guidance both from the teacher in the school and parent in their own home. According to psychologist, the role of parent in study process can motivating children in gain their achievement. When the children are noticed by their parent about their activity in study, their willingness to be better is increase. The activity of their parent is not only control their study but also try to understand what if the children have any difficulties. For example if they have an assignment, parents have to ask them to do the assignment autonomously but it does not mean that parents do not need to help their children. Teaching and educating itself have a differentiation if the parent wants to think deeply about it. As the student of the teacher training and education faculty, the writer wants to try explaining what teaching and educating are. Teaching is an activity in the class. The main core of this activity is transfer the knowledge from the book or other sources to the students. This activity as an impact to the student but only influences them for a moment. An example is a nursery teacher teach the student about do not steal something which not theirs, but the way to deliver the message is only by saying, it will has no implementation on the student’s comprehension. The student may be forgetting this message in the next time, but it is different with educating.
Educating is an activity that can be done in the class or beyond the class. The main core of this activity is transferring the knowledge which the student does not understanding yet and making the student comprehending about it. The effect of this activity is more memorable to the student because the teacher not only transfer the lesson but also make the student understand about what the lesson’s content is. For example is the teacher tells the nursery student to do not steal something which not theirs by using a fable. The way to deliver the message especially moral message is more touching for the student comprehension. The student is stimulated by a story of animal that bring a good narration about the badness of stealing. The student may become more remember and understand about the message through the story because the animal character in the story is interesting their attention. Nowadays, if we care about education in this country we can take a role and understand that not only teacher that can educate someone. Everybody can be a ‘teacher’ that able to teach and educate someone. If someone has a well knowledge about something, he or she can teach and educate another about it. For example is when a father has any experiences then he become a wise man, he can teach his children how to be a wise person when they have any problem in their life based on his knowledge of experiences. Another real example is in this country, a soldier have to be a teacher in the district where they are on duty. As reported in KOMPAS.com at Friday 5th October 2012, TNI who has on duty in Kutai Barat, Kalimantan Timur is wearing two hats as a soldier and a teacher in that area. It caused in that area is lack of the human source in teaching and educating. So, the 0912 Kutai Barat District Military Command commandant, Letkol Inf Agus Sip asked his solder to have a role in education. That fact is proving that the one who can teach and educate someone is not only the teacher. The last example is when a mother has a little child; she can be a teacher for her child because mostly child in the age nursery and elementary school has big curiosity about something. It is not impossible for them to ask everything that interesting their attention or ask for such an unimportant and unpredictable question. The mother should be able explain the answer to their children by using their comprehension language, because mother is a trustworthy encyclopedia, an answer estuary for their children’s question. As a candidate of teacher in the future, we should know how to be a good teacher. Teachers should be able to give a concrete example of what they have been told to the students. Make the students implement the lesson in the real life, not only in a temporal time but last until they are being adult. To make they understand is not only explaining the lesson by reading the book or giving a note to them but also make them understand and comprehending the lesson through something which can be memorable by their attention. Use some way such as learning by doing, learning through story and etcetera. Those ways has big enough influence to their memory.
These are several steps that can be implemented the teacher while teaching in the class. First is about classroom management; the teachers should set the example, it is important for them to be like a “Superhero” figures in their students’ eyes. So, remember that the students look up to the teacher and will thus try to mimic teachers’ dispositions. Second is about lesson planning; the teachers should have any solid plan for their lessons, each and every lesson should be divided into three parts that reflect the objective. First part can be used to teach something new to the class, second part is dedicate this part to something that involves a collective group work element, the last part is make the students to return to their seats and work quietly on one final task. The teacher should take into account about the objective of the lesson. What do they want their students to take away from the lesson? If the teachers pay attention about it, it will bring them to be a good teacher that do not only teach but also educate.

There are many facets of learning today. Teaching has a small role to play in how children learn, but it is a role nonetheless. Learning is multifarious and neuroscientists would argue that learning begins about eighteen days after conception. Many theories have been put forward that suggest learning is made up of several different perspectives as well as individual development and maturation. Once the child has reached school it is up to the teacher to decide which perspective to relate to each individual child to help them learn to their full potential. “Understandings of each [perspective] help teachers become reflective practitioners – to continually examine and critique their own beliefs and how those beliefs and practices affect their students’ learning.” (Churchill et al., 2011, p.100) An understanding of the pedagogy involved is integral to becoming an effective teacher.…
