In the short story “Norma”, author Sonia Sanchez describes how she vows “to never agree again” because Sonia learned to never follow someone else’s lead. Sonia describes how Norma, one of Sonia’s classmates, “explained the factoring process in such an easy manner”, which reveals that Norma was believed to be a genius during her childhood, and was likely to be very successful (4). Because of this fact, Sonia admired Norma and wanted to be as successful as she thought Norma would be, attempting to follow Norma’s lead. However, when Sonia meets Norma several years later, Norma is living on the street, a “woman of four children, with tracks running on her legs and arms”, while Sonia “went to Hunter College”, which illustrates how the student everyone…

Professionally, I desire the doctorate of nursing practice degree to create change in how nurses are educated. I have large ideas that this degree is helping me refine and learn how to implement. One of these ideas is the creation of a better educational path for individuals that would have traditionally become associate degree nurses. This new path will have the potential to reduce the health disparities faced by these students while creating the bachelor’s prepared nursing workforce.…

We read Macbeth because Shakespeare’s plays are timeless in the lessons we can learn from them. Why do we read it when it wasn’t intended for schools and when Shakespeare uses a form of English that often differs from how we speak today? Yet Shakespeare gives us many valuable lessons to learn from his plays. For example, in the act Macbeth; Macbeth says “Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player/ that struts and frets his house upon the stage” and when Duncan says “that you can’t judge someone’s mind looking at his face”. He teaches us ambition, good and evil, power, appearance and reality, politics, the supernatural, and physical and mental illness. This is something we already live in the real world. Shakespeare teaches us that ambition can drive us to doing things we never thought we were capable of doing. Like when Macbeth killed Kind Duncan to become king, yet Duncan had been a good king to Macbeth and Lady Macbeth by letting them stay under the king’s roof and giving them good king men ship. The fact that he proves that good always wins and the evil is always victorious as long as it can last. He also lets us know that power can be wanted but not always be able to have it in possession and that’s where the ambitions drives us to commits evilness. The most important thing is that he teaches that our self-conscious will always follow us and may never let us sleep. In the case with Lady Macbeth, she at first was an evil women known with no heart but yet in the begging of act 5 she proves that she can longer live with herself and all the murders and crimes that were committed by her and Macbeth. Now Macbeth was the opposite because at the begging of the play he showed repentance and fear, then throughout the play his ambition drove him to forget about his conscious and got rid of everything and everyone that got in his way. This proves that doing evil can cause mental illness and that evil never will win again the…

Hello my name is Christopher Brogdon and I live in Philadelphia, PA. I’m currently 26 years old and don’t go by any nicknames. My personality is really a reflection of nursing and fits perfectly for the career. Nursing and Psychology goes hand and hand. One subject cannot work without the other. Growing up I found it very interesting to watch how other people work and operate daily. I watched their body movements and how they use to repeat different patterns. My learning goes for this course in very simple, do well in anything I do. It took me a long time to get to this point in my life and it’s important that I don’t screw up, especially in College. I knew about Psychology from watching Bugs Bunny dress as a Psychiatrist and preforming different acts to amuse the audience. Largely my understanding of Psychology extends from my own understanding of observing human behavior when I was little. Knowledge of Psychology can well benefit me well within the Nursing Field in dealing with patients and any behaviors that I may come across. I believe that Biological perceptive within the study of Psychology could best explaining human behavior…

I’m at Durham Technical Community College because it’s a cheaper school then the school I was going to go to which is NCCU. I want to transfer to UNC-Chapel Hill; this has always been my dream school. Hopefully I’ll get into the C-Step program. I’m going to get an AA at DTCC. I want a Bachelor’s degree at UNC-CH. My program of study is University Transfer in Associate in Arts Degree. My pre-major is nursing. I want to be a nurse but I’m not sure which kind yet. They have high salaries and I want to earn a lot of money. I’ve always heard people talking about their nursing careers. I always used to see the nurses at the clinic I go to and they seem to like their job. I feel really good knowing I will become someone in life and knowing I’m the first in my family to attend college. My parents and family are really proud of me. I know it’s going to take a while to get a Bachelor’s degree but it’s worth it. I’m going to focus on my goals and not let anything or anyone get in the way. If I would’ve chosen to stay at NCCU I would become a nurse faster but it’s alright because I’m going to get into UNC. I’m going to work real hard so I can get into the C-Step program. My cousin’s wife is a nurse and she earned her ADN at DTCC. I got an idea of how she likes her job and the environment at the hospital she works at, Duke. My Holland Code is CAS which stands for Conventional People (Organizers), Artistic People (Creators), and Social People (Helpers). This matches with me so much but the Artistic part doesn’t go with my ideal job. I’m very organized so I will keep up with my job as a nurse. I like helping people and my patients will be my first priority.…

Having grown up with a father who was a psychiatric nurse I could not help but admire his wealth of knowledge about the human body. I was raised to always be prepared to take on the responsibilities of others whenever need arises. During my childhood, I supported and gave care to my physically-challenged mother who remains my daily inspiration. Through this experience, I subconsciously developed strength of character not only for myself but others who may need me. In 1998, I volunteered at the Montreal General Hospital where my adoptive mother worked in the surgical teaching department of McGill. I was fortunate to have spent many pedagogical days at the hospital. She always made sure she surrounded me with her colleagues in the medical field who encouraged me academically and she showed me the importance of a sound education. My most recent experience was when I was the primary care giver for my grandmother while she was in palliative care. This further reaffirmed my decision to pursue an education in nursing.…

This thesis investigates the concept of globalization and its effects on the economic, political and social development in Brazil. For many years Brazil suffered from economic instability, high inflation and high levels of income inequalities and poverty. New reforms and opening up of domestic markets has had positive effects on Brazil in terms of stabilizing the economy. Globalization is a growing phenomenon and its effects on the world and people have been enormous. Trade liberalization has led to increased foreign direct investment inflows and it has also increased Brazil’s international trade. During the era of globalization and economic growth, Brazil has received more power within international organizations and has become an important addition to international politics. But, even if the trade liberalization had positive effects on Brazil during the 1990s, inequality and poverty levels did not decline. This was due to the lack of functioning social policies. Governmental changes in the 21st century led to social reforms and by introducing new policies poverty levels were reduced. Today Brazil is experiencing a growing middle class and a further reduction of inequality levels. For globalization to have a…
