For the third simulation the two profit organization had to create a calendar using two colors. One of the colors out of the two would give a team an upper hand in the simulation. My organization which is the non-profit Goodwill. In the simulation we sold goodwill but we also had the upper hand because we knew the color that would better the chance of an organization winning. Since we knew the color we could charge both profit organizations money so that one of them could have a better chance winning. Having this upper hand meant that we could charge any price for the correct color and with that came betting game. For one of my internships, I decided to accept the offered position as the Operations Coordinator for the youth programming department at a local nonprofit in South Philadelphia. I decided to take on the position because it did not complete align with my career interest and so I could get different experiences that a regular company or corporation could not offer. In addition to that, it was a great opportunity to give back to the community. The different things that experience during my time at the organization in my role as Operation Coordinator certainly relates to our ethics class. My subject for the ethics interview was Angela Williams. I have known Angela throughout my life as a member of my family. She is six years older than I and is experienced in the corporate world which makes her an ideal subject for this interview. Angela graduated from Catholic University in 2005 and has held three separate jobs since then. Other than a Catholic college, she has attended Catholic school throughout her life including a small, all-girls 7-12 high school. Her most recent employment is at a non-profit organization of Massachusetts but her prior employments involved an advertising firm and an insurance agency. All three of these jobs involve marketing/sales which in many cases involve making a product/service attractive to a customer. Angela has shown dedication and devotion to all of her career paths, and from an outside point of view I am able to say that she acts as an ethical professional. One of the possible problems in the ethical culture of the Red Cross that creates issues is because it is a charitable organization, its leaders have assumed that all employees and volunteers will act ethically. Although this has been disproven many times recently, the Red Cross still has not taken all necessary steps to ensure that it is truly a socially – conscious and ethically – responsible organization. One of the other problems with the ARC’s ethical culture is the moral lack displayed by some of the organization’s leaders. An organization can only be as strong as the person who is leading it. How can you fault the volunteers for stealing ARC money when the organization’s leaders have been caught numerous times with their hands in the proverbial cookie jar? These leaders also benefited from a historical lack of transparency about how the ARC used its money. While the lack of transparency may not have been a problem in previous generations, America’s moral fiber has been weakened.…

It explores how people live their lives according to a standard of “right” or “wrong” behavior and how their personal set of morals are formed. Society plays a role in the traditions and customs that shape the standards or moral set that people adopt. Common standards shared among individuals can be called values or a values system. Some people have different definitions of ethics such as, personal integrity, rules of appropriate individual behavior, rules of appropriate behavior for a community or society, and some define ethics as simply “doing the right thing.” The Golden Rule—do unto others as you would have them do unto you—is also a goal of living an ethical life by some. There are also some ethical theories discussed, which are divided into three categories: virtue ethics, ethics for the greater good, and universal ethics.
