No Homework
Demand on No Homework Homework one of life’s struggles for students from the starting of school until the day they graduate. It makes kids hate learning since they know they have to do homework once they get home. Pressure is just one of the things that lead to stress in students because of homework and the need to stay awake all night to finish their homework. In order to get people to help abolish homework one should look to the reasons why homework should not be assigned such as it would be easier on both students and teachers, it could relieve stress in students and, lastly, students would be able to think for themselves. Teachers and students have the problem of not being able to meet up because of the work they have to do like teachers have to grade and students have to complete their school work, but what if homework was not in the way? Would teacher-student meetings to talk about help with a topic the student does not comprehend? Well yes, teachers and students would discuss about topics that the student does not understand and get help with it without the teacher being distracted with grading homework. “Teachers go through the motions of setting homework because they believe they should but sometimes do not have time to mark it for weeks, leaving children's mistakes uncorrected.”(Clark) This addresses the first problem of why homework should not be assigned. Clark tries to explain why homework is a big obstacle in learning, it shows that teachers don’t fully grade the homework and often leave mistakes uncorrected. Whereas if there was no homework the student would have been able to ask the teacher to help him on the problems he does not understand about the lecture. Also the teacher with more time to thoroughly explain the work would help the student in not struggling ahead with the class. “She cited the example of a primary school which handed children a pack of 45 worksheets as Easter holiday homework in preparation for SATs in May.”(Clark) This is insane students shouldn’t be assigned such work because they would not be able to enjoy their break, which is what students look up for to have fun. Later Clark states, “’But what about the parents who have organized a holiday?” That is right what about the family plans that are not going to be able to enjoy as a family because of the homework that teachers are assigning to their students. To include that the teachers are going to have to correct the homework they assigned when the students get back from their break. Homework should not be assigned because if it is both teachers and students are going to have a miserable time with. Stress known as the silent killer because it leads to many diseases later on in life and one cause of stress is homework. Homework I think gets more complicated as the years go on but homework will not be abolished unless we do something. In additionally “time spent on homework has gone up 50% since 1981.”(Kjerulf) The author is saying that as the years pass the students have to deal with more homework. This is something parents should worry about because parents do not want their child stressed and behind in school. Teachers should also pay attention because if the student is stressed they start to perform poorly and are confused about how to do the problems assigned. “'Spending too much time struggling with homework can harm your child's health, worrying about whether they can do it can make them nervous, anxious and lacking in confidence, and deprives them of a proper rest after school,' says Dr. Donaldson.”(Wallersteiner) This sums up what the definition of stress related to homework is and what it can do. Students should get their sleep because they are expected to perform their best in school, but homework and other school work prevent them from doing so. Many students stay up late or even don’t sleep in order to complete the assignments assigned by teachers for the students “good” in learning. Abolishing homework would give students much needed sleep and not cause them to be stressed out all the time because of homework. Naturally teachers expect students to perform at their best every day of school but with homework taking time in student’s sleep hours one cannot expect that anymore. With the abolishment of homework teachers would be able to expect students to improve in school. “The experiment followed 10,000 students around the world, and found that those burdened with homework actually achieved lower scores.”(McAuliff) the author says that the homework that teachers assigned and assign is causing students to achieve lowers scores. Definitely this is not what the school wants because otherwise it could be shut down. Without a doubt if teachers do not assign homework they will get students that are ready to learn. Students who are fully rested would get the school higher scores because of the excitement student would have after they leave home for school. Students now would be able to not fall behind and follow and accelerate the pace at which they learn just by simply having a better night sleep. Now teachers would be able to expect more from students and students would demonstrate their teachers they have the capabilities of learning all that they are taught. To conclude with the abolishment of homework one can see that students would be expected to perform better and would do so. Although homework has been brought up in many arguments whether it should be abolished or it should be increased. Nevertheless homework does not benefit teachers and students so that is why it has been proposed that homework should be abolished for good because it would make it easier on both students and teachers, it would relieve students from stress, and would make teachers expect more from their students. In order to fix these problem students should start a petition asking the district to abolish homework for the good of our generation and generations to come.

Since Roberto Nevilis introduced it to the world as a punishment in 1905, there have been many arguments to whether or not homework should be required. What initially started as punishment for kids who messed around in class has become a mandatory task that all students are required to do daily. I’m here to end that, I intend to show you that students should not be required to complete homework for a grade. Homework consumes too much time and leaves no space for extracurricular activities and causes health problems. On top of that, many students don’t even have the resources required to complete the homework. Despite these things, homework is still a graded assignment that if failed to complete, can drastically bring down a student's grade.…
