Night Elie Wiesel
Night by Elie Wiesel is a memoir about Elie’s experiences in the Holocaust between 1941-1945. In the beginning of his memoir, Elie is a spiritual, religious young boy. His family, friends, and townspeople Were taken to the Concentration Camps, changing his life forever. He witnesses things that forever change his life, throughout his experiences in the Holocaust and camps, not only does his life change, Elie himself starts to change. His faith starts to seep through, his empathy gone, all he could do is care for himself and his father, who they both were taken to the same camp. Elie first starts with his memoir, introducing Moshe the Beadle, a religious, humble, and lively man, who was later taken to a camp and was able to later escape the camp. “Why should I bless His name?” “What had I to thank Him for?”(31) he questioned God because his times and memories Auschwitz was unforgettable. He witness inhumanity, people [kids] burned, his father beaten up, and the flames which consumed his faith forever. His first night of Auschwitz camp was a long unforgettable night, his memories through the whole Holocaust he experienced caused even more damage to him. Elie have witnessed so much during his time in camps that had made him into a unemotional man. He have witnessed people being burned, beat up, shot, killed, and hanged. These things have made him lose his faith, causing him to question God, why?. His faith seeping through causes his emotions for others to be gone because when those inhumanity stuff were happening he questioned “Where is He[God]?”(62) He questioned, if there was God, wouldn’t he stop all these inhumanity acts? The absence of humanity in the camps is like Absence of God. There was no humanity, just inhumanity and
