People did not see Machiavelli’s ideas as ones to hold on to. Lorenzo de Medici, along with the public, was horrified and disturbed by it’s contents. The Prince began to be criticized as immoral and wicked. Although Machiavelli’s The Prince was criticized for being unethical, it was not Machiavelli’s work that was corrupt and dishonorable, but the people of his times. Instead Machiavelli was merely commenting on the reality of Renaissance life.
