Please enjoy my essay on netball

My name is Tanisha and I will be talking about netball. I will tell you why I absolutely love netball, all the things I now about netball, the rules that I can explain, all the friends that I made, what it took to get really good at netball, what the netball uniform looks like, what the positions are, famous people that I know and the umpires. I will talk about all of those things in the essay. I also hope you learn alot from this essay.

I absolutely love netball because it was a new sport that was introduced to me when I watching my sister Keely get ready for her netball games. Keely was offered a spot on the schools team. She played for kilbery stars. Now back to why I like netball. I think that netball is a fantastic sport that anyone can. It takes a lot of courage to try something new. I still play but I will be stoping soon. I am really good at all positions but I am the best in Wing Attack because I am really fast. I am also good at Goal Attack and Goal Shooter. The best night I had in Goal Shooter was when I shot seven goals in two quarters. I’ll tell you about my practice.

I might not have played for long, but I now alot of things about netball. Netball can by play indoors or outdoors, it is played by both girls and boys and there are seven positions Goal Shooter, Goal Attack, Goal Keeper, Goal Defence, Wing Attack, Wing defence and Centre. I’ll tell you more about the positions a bit further on. A netball court looks like a basketball court. It has two goal circles which are where you can shoot goals, there is a centre third and the goal third. There are alot of netball teams my hypothesis is at least one hundred or more.

The rules I’ll explain are stepping, contact, obstruction, held ball, toeing the line, touching the pole and off side. Stepping is where you are not allowed to move with the ball in your hands or drag your foot. You can pivot which is where you leave one foot on the ground and with your

In dissecting this problem, it becomes evident that the demand for this particular sport is an issue. How many people have a desire to watch this sport, and furthermore are willing to pay a price for this entertainment? The WNBA fan base is slowly declining, and as a result, less money is being generated from the public. Spectators have concluded that the growing audience has been hard to come by for the WNBA, which is apparent by the league’s attendance history. With the WNBA falling short of its male counterpart attendance wise, the WNBA has the lower hand of the deal when it comes to ticket pricing. The WNBA is already put at a disadvantage by having half as many seasonal games as the NBA. The average WNBA ticket price is fifteen dollars as opposed to the average NBA ticket being forty-five dollars. When compared with the attendance rate, the women’s basketball league is struggling tremendously. With people already cutting back expenses from the hardships of the recent recession, this has made the opportunity cost for the less popular women’s ticket drop dramatically. Kyle Weidie in, The WNBA is worth it, states his reasoning on low sales and popularity by stating, “Men’s basketball is more athletically entertaining in contrast to general human athletic capabilities,” which would decrease the demand for women’s basketball. Weidie further states, “not to say women’s basketball is not athletically astounding in its own way, just very small in comparison to a pool of the world’s greatest athletes.” With the differences in athleticism and levels of entertainment, the public’s preferred choice has helped contribute to the economic blow within this organization. Here is a quick representation of the recent 2009 national attendance rate and media coverage.…

Enlightenment thinkers such as Rousseau, Montesquieu, Locke, and Hobbes had a strong influence on the American government. John Locke was a famous British philosopher; he believed that people are shaped by their experiences. John Locke 's political work he is most famous for is “The Second Treatise of Government”, in which he argues that sovereignty resides in the people and explains the nature of legitimate government in terms of natural rights and the social contract. The positions required for court volleyball are quite different from beach volleyball. Court volleyball requires there to be six people on each side of the court. The players wear knee pads and ankle braces to protect their bones and joints, and they wear tennis shoes for traction and foot protection. Each player has a specific job. There are passers, blockers, hitters, setters, and defensive specialists; generally there is one of each, with an additional hitter, although everyone on the court can play almost any role at a given time. Since there are so many people on the court, there is a higher chance of one of the players touching the ball and keeping it in play than it hitting the floor and becoming a dead ball.…

Also, hockey has maintained its status as the most popular sport in Canada, while encouraging many women to participate. These reasons are believed to be the major factors that contribute to why hockey should be titled Canada’s true national sport. The history of modern hockey goes as far back as the early 1800’s. Many regions have claimed to be the birthplace of hockey, but the best-supported cases are in Windsor, Nova Scotia, and Kingston, Ontario, which hold by far the earliest written accounts of a game that has ever been played. Many assumptions were then made that hockey first originated within these three cities.…

Softball is a variant of baseball played with a larger ball on a smaller field. It was invented in 1887 in Chicago as an indoor game. It was at various times called indoor baseball, mush ball, playground, softbund ball, kitten ball, and, because it was also played by women, ladies' baseball. The name softball was given to the game in 1926. A tournament (1933) at the Chicago World's Fair spurred interest in the game. The Amateur Softball Association of America (founded 1933) governs the game in the United States and sponsors annual sectional and World Series championships. The International Softball Federation regulates rules of play in more than 110 countries, including the United States and Canada. Women's fast-pitch softball became an Olympic sport in 1996, but it (and baseball) was dropped in 2005 from the 2012 games. Despite the name, the ball used is not soft. It is about 12 in. (30 cm) in circumference (sometimes larger for slow-pitch), which is 3 in. (8 cm) larger than a baseball. The infield in softball is smaller than in baseball; each base is 60 ft (18 m) from the next, as opposed to baseball's 90 ft. (27 m). There are two types of softball: in the most common, slow-pitch softball, the ball, sometimes larger than the standard 12 in, must arch on its path to the batter, 10 players make up a team, and bunting and stealing are prohibited; in fast-pitch softball the pitch is fast, there are 9 players on the field at one time, and bunting and stealing are permitted. Softball rules vary somewhat from those o…

The role of an umpire is to control and be fair throughout the game according to the rules. The umpire has to position themselves where they can see the players, the play and most important the ball. All professional games will have two umpires and the following diagram shows the main parts of the court they cover for umpiring with the umpire blowing the whistle for the centre pass if a goal was just scored in their section.…
