Verbalize non-pharmacological methods that provide reliefb. Demonstrate use of relaxation skills and diversional activitiesc. Verbalize the importance and effects of taking appropriate, prescribed analgesics and other medications | Review and discuss to the client ways to lessen pain, including therapeutic touch, proper body mechanics and relaxation skills.Demonstrate and practice the relaxation techniques with the client.Check first the medical order for the drug, dose and frequency of analgesic prescribed.Discuss and check Institute safety precautions as appropriate if the client receive narcotic analgesics.Instruct the patient to request prn pain medication before the pain is severe. | Each person may find different images or approaches to relaxation more helpful than others.
