This book is about Fox Company, Second Battalion, Seventh Regiment in the Korean war. The first portion is about a hill that they were entrenched in. As wrong as it was some of the leadership rumored that the troops would be back with their families for Christmas. The weather conditions were horrible. The food they got from the cooks would be frozen before they could get back to their fighting holes. And the consuming the frozen food had destroyed their bowels and as a result strips of frozen diarrhea covered the trench latrine. The Browning automatic rifle (BAR) was the favorite weapon of the strongest Marines. I was surprised to find out that the “old” men who were in billets, like squad leader, were only twenty one years old. I found it interesting…

I thought the book was really good. I found that the book moved at a fast pace. None of the parts were too long or too boring. I liked how the author made it interesting by giving Brian many problems he had to face. The part where he gets rescued by the fur buyer was very cool to read. If I were placed in his situation, I probably would not survive. Even though Brian faced many difficulties and got discouraged, he never gave up. He was determined to survive no matter what crossed his path. I need to be just as determined to find solutions to problems I face and think rationally about…

The book Fearless by Eric Blehm is what I read. This book is entails the story of a man that was a part of SEAL team SIX, who was a hero, and whose bravery and willpower was enhanced through religious faith and his family. During this book this man pledged a war against his own reckless personality and willingness to stop at nothing to get to the highest rank in the military.Adam's final act of determination led to his…

This novel captured my interest and held it to the final chapter! I not only learned about the history of World War II, but also of the emotional impact it had on soldiers and their families. The Gunderman family was a family devoted to each other. The realization that their oldest son, Jimmy, had to fight for his country was devastating to them. The main character, Earl, was the younger half-brother. He described himself as the weaker of the two. He and Jimmy were close and enjoyed being together. He vividly detailed the emotional struggles they went through as a family during the war and how they overcame the struggles together by trusting in each other.…

The story starts out in Green Team which is the name of the training process to get into DEVGRU (Shortened name for Special Warfare Development Group) more commonly known as SEAL Team Six. It then jumps back to Alaska and his childhood. Mark tells of how living in Alaska prepared him for the extreme cold he would feel during BUD/s and how he decided to become a SEAL from reading a book in the library about them. Next Mark jumps back to Green Team Training. He describes the intensity of it and the extreme difficulty. From running through rooms guns blazing, to fast roping onto a ship at night the book never slows down. Next we are taken onto a helicopter flying 70 mph into Afghanistan. Mark tells of how they landed on a building and came into contact with the enemy. He killed his first insurgent then and he describes how he felt about it. The similarities between humans and dogs are quite minimal, if we are to compare appearance-wise. However, that does not mean humans and dogs don’t have the same traits, thoughts, and behaviors. For instance, both can influence others emotionally and both can make decisions that leave unforgettable imprints in others’ lives. But, are dogs able to do the most meaningful thing that humans are capable of doing, being a hero? Well, the answer to that question situates in the comic book Dogs Of War by Sheila Keenan, where it proves that not only humans can be heroes, but dogs can as well. Through captivating illustrations and realistic dialogue, the author retells true stories of how three different war dogs (Boots, Loki, and Sheba), in three different…

I like how its really intense and calming and also some parts funny. I like how it talks about teen pregnancy because some young teens will want to get pregnant at such a young age and if they read this book it may help them change their mind and wait till they get older, thats very important to me. I really like the chapter where Bobby was talking about the wall when he was trying to get everything back in place and try to see who he really was, i thought that part was really good. I like how it goes back and fourth for the chapters like then and now, it makes you want to read more because in one chapter it tells you really good information and you just want to read even more till the…

When I was looking for a book to read, this was one of the last ones on my list. I wanted to read about World War II – a war that seemed more interesting. However, this book and I crossed paths when all the books I wanted to read were out of stock at the bookstore. I thought I’d take a chance, and I’m glad I did. I fell into a book-induced stupor when I began reading it. After awhile I realized an hour and half had gone by and I was halfway through the book. I was engrossed by the…

    9. OPINION: I thought First to Fight was a good book that went into a lot of detail into what Lieutenant General Krulak was a part of in the Marine Corps throughout his career. I did like the way he pointed out how the Marine Corps has always stood up for the American people’s rights in a roundabout way, without actually spelling it out. I also believe that every Marine needs to read this book because it shows how the Marines were almost absorbed and disbanded throughout history, and how close we were to not having a Marine Corps today.…
