Land is important to the Native Americans because they needed their good land to survive and thrive so it was a big problem when the early settlers and government took it away. “Whites had always justified evicting indians from their lands by explaining that there was plenty of land to the west where the displaced tribes could settle.”(McNeill, Pendergast, Pendergast, Slovey 53 ).
