The film the Minority Report with Tom Cruise falls into the American category of science fiction. Science fictional films often include scientific advances or major social changes. Being based in the year 2054, we see many imagined advances in the fields of science and technology. The whole idea of pre-crime is futuristic and incredibly advanced. Some of the properties that allow this movie to fall under the category of science fiction are the futuristic cars, the jetpacks, the ‘halos’, the screen on which Anderton watches the Precogs’ visions, and etc. The setting in which the movie takes places doesn’t show much change from now except for the advances in everyday places like where the car is parked outside of John’s home, the highway system, and the holographic screen in the G.A.P. Much of the costumes worn by the characters don’t seem to be too far from today’s wardrobe. The biggest change we see is the jumpsuits worn by the precogs in the Temple.…

Bosley Crowther of the New York Times calls the film a “flimsy motion picture” with “reckless gags” (n.p.). Not exactly key words in a review that will get those reading the highbrow journal for period intellectuals into seats at the box office. Crowther has no praise for the film-adaptation of an original stage play. Crowther recognizes that the comedy and the narrative of the movie was supposed to bring people away from their TVs and into movie theaters…

Globalization is something that has left not one place on this earth untouched. Everywhere, countries are constantly changing and adapting their cultures to become more industrialized and urbanized – more modern. Nigeria is one of those countries. Like most globalized countries, Nigeria has strayed far from the path of traditional culture, and adopted numerous new aspects of culture of a global nature. In Nigeria, though, globalization has occurred rather quickly. Nigeria 's culture today differs drastically from its culture just half a century ago in the 1960s, having been largely negatively impacted by globalization.…

The 21st century is known for a numerous number of advances in technology and music, and according to Brain Raftery, this has diverged the attention of movie lovers and critics everywhere. Richard Brody is not so fond of Raftery’s view of movies being “Something to Do When the Wi-Fi’s Down,” since he states from the start that movies matter to him, in which he also manages to explain the importance of how movies are “determined not by media discussion but by each person for herself.” However, he also accepts Raftery’s point that movies are no longer the center of attention of this generation, as well as, that’s criticism of movies has declined and are no longer as important as they were before. According to Brody, the reduction of attention…

When I was a child, my mother noticed that I was full of too much energy for her to handle, so she sent me to an after-school theatre program at my elementary school. This was groundbreaking for me. Being the middle-child often means that you are never really the center of attention. I had this incredible rush pulse through my blood as I stood in front of people who were paying attention, who were interested in what I was going to say next. Unfortunately, I think it is a common problem in our society for a child to feel like no cares, like they are entirely alone. I think theatre saves us from that, at least it does for me. I was never really…
