It was a hot summer day in the year 2002 when I went camping with my family in Savannah, Georgia. I will never forget this day because it’s the day I learned the lesson that if I don’t obey my parents the consequences will be large.
I was only about six years old when we first pulled into the campground. Of course being a young child the first thing I noticed was this extravagant playground out near the road. When me and my sister, Natalie who was around seven at this time, saw it we both looked at each other and knew we were going to go play on that playground.
We pulled into our campsite that was located near the very back of the park and our parents started unpacking everything and setting up the motorhome. They were making it obvious they wanted us out of their way. They grabbed our dolls, bikes and chalk out of the car and told us to go play. Natalie and I knew this was the perfect time to go play on the playground that we saw on our way in. It just so happened there was a playground right by our campsite as well. We came up with the perfect plan. We would tell our parents we were going to go play on the playground and trick into them into thinking we meant the one right near our campsite. In reality we planned on going to the big one near the front of the campground and not have to lie in the process. So we grabbed our bikes and asked our parents if we could ride over to the playground and play. They both said yes, so we rode off towards what we thought was the most beautiful playground we've ever saw. It was probably about a fifteen minute bike ride for us to get there. We dropped our bikes and ran to the playground and started playing.
About a half hour passed when my sister Natalie decided she had to use the restroom. So she went around to the other side of the playground away from the road and decided to go. By this point we noticed there was this blue truck that drove past a few times while we were there. We began to get a

While there we also visited my grandpa who lived on a ranch where it rained avocadoes. Gates that had grown green and fluffy moss at the corners opened up. I saw two monster, bright, neon green four wheelers. My heart beating and being the daredevil of my siblings I was jumping with excitement! Once we were all settled two of my older cousins decided to start the four wheelers up. As I heard the engines roar to life my cousins hollered who wanted a ride. The rest of my cousins beat me to the line and I was last. Standing there impatiently waiting and watching as they sped off into the trees and not returning for about twenty minutes each. The anticipation was killing me! While kicking dirt around I heard the engine coming from a distance, Finally my turn! To my luck my cousins were tired and hopped off the motors. My excitement crushed instantly. My dad came to the rescue and told me he would take me. Excitement…

One would think that purchasing your first home would be a very fascinating experience; after all it is one of the most major purchases of your entire life. In America, home ownership ties in with the American Dream and the spirit of working hard to one day earn through hard work a home with a white picket fence. My husband and I felt that it was time for us to reward ourselves for all the hard work we have been putting in over the years by purchasing our first home, which was well overdue. I quickly learned the process of purchasing your first home can be very frustrating and stressful. However, if you survive the home buying process the reward is priceless once you move into your “American Dream.”…

It was a boring summer day. My cousin Henry, Jake, and myself decided to go shoot BB guns at the old Nike site, which was now a park. We climbed up to the top of the abandoned radar tower with our BB guns and pretending to be sharp shooters, we shot the BB guns at three cans we lined up on the ground. Some kids from the neighborhood adjacent to ours came to the same park with fireworks. We climbed down to meet them. They shared their fireworks with us and we shared our BB guns with them. We were having a blast throwing the bottle rockets and fire crackers off the tower. We giggled at the pop which echoed around the park. The neighbors, whose houses backed up to the park, did not enjoy our early fourth of July show. A few minutes later we saw…

I was only twelve when my great adventure took place. Keelan and Matthew Daniel, known to many as the definition of rednecks, or to me as trouble, were honestly my best and only friends in our quaint neighborhood. We ran upstairs at top speed to get changed to go to our next door neighbor, Sam’s, house. The summer following my sixth grade year was full of kick the can, capture the flag, ghost in the graveyard, and many more games played with the neighborhood kids. Some games got out of hand at times. As I tried to tag Conner to stop him from scoring in our little game of capture the ball, I seemed to forget I had a tree in the middle of my yard and I ran straight into it. Once during a competition of “America’s Got Talent” Logan mooned all of us, leaving us girls petrified. Then one hot summer night I was running the bases as we continued our game of whiffle ball while Trenton started to pee in the open onto our homemade bases made of rocks... he didn’t receive chocolate chip cookies with the rest of us that night. Out of all our eventful times the one I treasure most is when we set up our own little camp site. We found two tents and connected them both in my backyard. We slept outside, one tent for the boys and one for the girls. Eventually the boys got scared by a gunshot we heard in the distance so they joined us but were kept at a distance by my mother who kept an eye on us that night. Long games of truth or dare were…

I remember the day well. I was just finished with school for the year and sitting on the front step, the top half of me laying back on the porch, just staring. I was thinking about the small house my mother worked so hard for us to get and keep. We lived in row housing just outside Juneau Alaska. All of the houses were small and I always thought to myself, “Is this the life I am destined for?” My mind wondered as I looked up at the clouds and squinted because of the sun.…

It was early in the morning, in the middle of getting ready for school my mom yelled to my sister and me.”I have a surprise”. We rushed to the kitchen thinking what it would be. Once my sister and I got there, there was a cardboard box, we opened it and there was a note and it said that we are going to Disney World. I was shocked and thought it was a prank, but my sister just thought of airplanes, which she is scared of because it would be her first flight. My mom and dad told me it was not a prank and told me to get ready for the trip.…

Then a tall homeless man with a dirty gray cap, big scary eyes, and dirty torn clothes, then stared at my cousins and I. He suddenly turned behind our backs and started to follow us without our knowledge for a moment until we couldn’t see anything but the sun and the sound of cars around us, it was like he was invisible, suddenly he jumped behind us and sprayed us with some type of mist that made us all fall to the ground. A few minutes later, when we opened our eyes, we found ourselves near a big garbage can with no one around us we were clueless.
