Drinking and Driving Imagine a little girl walking to school, she is all dressed up excited for a long day of learning something new. Then two seconds later imagine headlights crashing into to that little girl, and the reason was because a drunk was not responsible enough to arrange a ride. Imagine trying to be the person to tell that little girl’s mother and father that their little girl died that morning to a drunk driver. Thousands of Americans experience this because drunk drivers are not responsible enough to make the right decision and decide to drive themselves home after having one too many drinks. A foolish mistake can be so devastating and hurt so many people, including the drivers. In my opinion it would be a lot easier to arrange a designated driver or to call a taxi to get the drunk home safely. In one instance a terrifying news story would change my views on drinking a driving forever. Six o’clock my family was all gathered for our morning breakfast. As my father turned on the local news, terror filled our house with disbelief as we heard the news anchor shout “BREAKING NEWS, three adults crashed and died due to a drunk driver.” The drunk driver was on his way home from the bar as he got on to the on ramp to highway 29. With his beer goggles on his vision was doubled as he comes up to an innocent driver. He rear ended the truck in front of him swerving out of control into the oncoming lane; the truck hit another truck head on. My family gasped in sadness and glared at each other, then back to the television. The news anchor reported that three adults died in the crash, both truck drivers and the passenger of the truck from the oncoming lane. The drunk driver left the sight on foot after the collision, but was found and arrested almost an hour and a half later. According to the news anchor an investigator determined he had been drinking and blew a 1.79 in a breathalyzer test. After the news story concluded with a few interviews
