Napoleon Hill Think And Grow Rich Summary
THINK AND GROW RICH by Napoleon Hill

Can you really think your way to wealth and success? After over twenty years of extensive study of many of America’s magnates of industry, Napoleon Hill concluded that within the power of the mind lies the “secret” to wealth, happiness, and success. In 1937, he published his findings in one of the first of its kind, a philosophical, self-help book titled, Think and Grow Rich. In it, he outlines 13 key principles gleaned from his study of successful individuals, which if consistently applied, could bring success to the common man. Hill uses entertaining and inspiring real-life accounts throughout the book to demonstrate the effectiveness of the various principles. Most, if not all of the principles espoused

I truly believe that with a firm gospel foundation and an understanding of the admonition of Jacob in the Book of Mormon, “But before ye seek for riches, seek ye for the kingdom of God.” (Jacob 2:18), those who follow correct principles of work, honesty, and integrity can also be highly successful in business and career. I believe our Father in Heaven created us in his image and likeness. This includes his attributes and abilities, even though ours are less experienced and developed. Part of this mortal experience involves developing and mastering our bodies, minds, and spirits. As we learn our capacities and capabilities, we grow to direct and control them to be more in line with the Fathers will. The true principles in Think and Grow Rich, if correctly applied, can be a blessing to me, my family, and all within my sphere of influence. They can be used to improve a person’s place in the world, to create innovation and opportunity, to build character, and greatest of all, bring glory to the Creator of all and build up His kingdom on the

The third podcast discusses the myth of “Rags to Riches” by explaining its origin. Ben Franklin, a founding father who was born in poverty, was in the printing business. At the time, paper was made from rags and paper was used for printing. This is how he went from rags to riches. The American Dream, from the perspective of those who have grown prosperous, is made from hard work. But, do all hard workers reach the American Dream? No. Luck is involved. Malcolm Gladwell demonstrates this idea of accumulative advantage, or luck, in his book Outliers. The “self-made man” is disproved as many beneficial events are highlighted and viewers see all that assist the man in his ascendance. In the podcast, a young woman who works for Domino’s Pizza is…

Mind guides behaviour, which shapes a person’s capabilities and skills. Therefore, mind indirectly determines whether an individual will succeed in the future. So what minds are required for individuals to achieve future success? A researcher in psychology, Howard Gardner, answered the question: the disciplined, synthesizing, creating, respectful and ethical minds should be cultivated in educational institutions and at the workforce. Therefore, practitioners in the business world have to foster these minds as well to become informed and responsible business professionals. This essay will demonstrate why the five minds are required for a qualified business professional and how the Master of Commerce (MCom) program enables me to develop those minds.…

    The Millionaire Next Door

How does one earn the title of wealthy? Authors Dr. Thomas J. Stanley and Dr. William D. Danko have studied how people become wealthy for over twenty years. They have conducted research, written books, conducted seminars, and advised major corporations on whom the wealthy are and what are the characteristics of the affluent in America. The research for The Millionaire Next Door was comprised of personal, as well as focus group interviews, with more than 500 millionaires. A survey of 1,115 high net worth and/ or high income respondents was also compiled. The authors define the threshold for being wealthy as having a net worth of $1 million or more. This is one distinction that the authors make in comparison to what most Americans might perceive is the definition of wealth. As opposed to what most Americans in our society believe, a measure of an individual’s material possessions does not necessarily equate to being wealthy. According to the authors, wealth is what you accumulate and not what you spend. Based on the author’s definition of wealth, only 3.5% of American households meet their criteria for status as a millionaire. Of this small percentage, 95% of millionaires have a net worth between $1 million and $10 million. The authors chose to focus on this segment of millionaires because this level of wealth can be attained in one generation and by many Americans.…

    Law of Success

The Law of Success (originally The Law of Success in 16 Lessons) is the title of Napoleon Hill’s first book set, published initially in 1925 as an multi-volume correspondence course and later more compact formats in recent years. The work was originally commissioned at the request of Andrew Carnegie at the conclusion of a multi-day interview with Hill, and was based upon interviews of over 500 American millionaires across nearly 20 years, including such self-made industrial giants as Henry Ford, J. P. Morgan, John D. Rockefeller, Alexander Graham Bell, and Thomas Edison. The original edition featured the eponymous 16 lessons, with the updated 21st-Century Edition featuring an additional 17th lesson drawn from later notes and lecture materials. The Master Mind Lesson One introduces the concept of The Master Mind, which Dr. Hill defines "as a mind that is developed through the harmonious cooperation of two or more people who ally themselves for the purpose of accomplishing any given task." Hill uses ideas from physics to illustrate the synergy that occurs between like-minded individuals. He also warns of the danger to the master mind group of any single member who thinks negatively. Another key insight from Hill is that knowledge is not power – it is only potential power. He defines power as "...organized knowledge, expressed through intelligent efforts." The master mind group makes this happen. [edit]A Definite Chief Aim Lesson Two, titled A Definite Chief Aim, urges the reader to discover his or her natural talents, then organize, coordinate and put into use the knowledge gained from experience. According to Hill, the main cause of failure is having no definitive chief aim in life — or failure to set clear and attainable goals — and plans to accomplish these goals. The keynote of this lesson is having a definite objective toward which to strive — never drift aimlessly. Having this definite chief aim will affect the subconscious mind, thus leading toward…
