Napoleon Bonaparte, Abraham Lincoln, And Mohandas Gandhi: Great Military Leaders
Plenty of people would argue that certain individuals are born with leadership qualities, but that is wrong. Instead, it is acquired through hard work and motivation. Many people have became political or military leaders either to gain power, to stand up for what they believe in, or to help their country during tough times. Throughout the course of history, individuals such as Napoleon Bonaparte, Abraham Lincoln, and Mohandas Gandhi have become influential leaders through their ability to inspire. Without a doubt, Napoleon Bonaparte is controversial leader who has guided France through good and bad times. Napoleon was able to centralize the French government, reform education, and support the arts and sciences. Centralizing the government assisted to the unity of the country. Reforming education permitted a better future for the French people and a more intelligent society. According to Gordon Leidner, “Lincoln always treated the men, regardless of rank, with courtesy and respect. When Lincoln received soldiers in the White House, he listened patiently to every request and attempted to solve their problem, no matter how insignificant it was” (Leidner 2). This represents how Lincoln was very attentive and respectful toward his soldiers. This led the soldiers to be inspired by Lincoln since they knew that their commander-in-chief was very courteous and well-mannered. Also, Lincoln tried to patiently complete their requests which makes him much more influential and more of an inspiration to his soldiers. He was pleasant and good-natured toward his soldiers which is an important aspect in the quality of leadership.
