nanocomputer

A nanocomputer is a computer whose physical dimensions are microscopic. The field of nanocomputing is part of the emerging field of nanotechnology. Several types of nanocomputers have been suggested or proposed by and futurists. Electronic nanocomputers would operate in a manner similar to the way present- day microcomputers work. The main difference is one of physical scale. More and more transistors are squeezed into silicon chips with each passing year; witness the evaluation of integrated circuits (IC s) capable of ever increasing storage capacity and nanocomputing is part of the emerging field of nanotechnology. Several types of nanocomputers have been suggested or proposed by and futurists. processing power. The ultimate limit to the number of transistors per unit volume is imposed by the atomic structure of dimension are microscopy.

Until the mid-1990s, the term "nanoscale" generally denoted circuit features smaller than 100 nm. As the IC industry started to build commercial devices at such size scales since the beginning of the 2000s, the term “nanocomputing” has been reserved for device features well below 50 nm to even the size of individual molecules, which are only a few nm. Scientists and engineers are only beginning to conceive new ways to approach computing using extremely small devices and individual molecules.
Nanocomputing technology has the potential for revolutionizing the way that computers are used. However, in order to achieve this goal, major progress in device technology, computer architectures, and IC processing must first be accomplished. It may take decades before revolutionary nanocomputing technology becomes commercially feasible.
As the size of computer chips gets smaller and smaller, companies continue to invest research dollars to reduce the size. The near future of

Before going further, it is essential to understand the size of a nanometer. A nanometer is a billionth of a meter. To imagine it easier, take a strand of hair. The width of that strand of hair is eighty thousand to one hundred thousand nanometers. Today, nanotechnology carries pretty much two meanings. The first would be the traditional meaning, which is the engineering of functions from a molecular scale using atoms, no more than one hundred nanometers in size , that carry special properties. The other meaning would be the vague meaning that most people know it as, which is anything really tiny and interesting, basically. Nanotechnology has a variety of uses. The book has a couple of examples. Zai uses nanomachines such as ships to battle or collect enemy intelligence. Just as well, Zai obtains a nanosuit which he described as ants that automatically adjusted to his body. The importance of nanotechnology is incredible. If nanotechnology is perfected, a revolution in technology would occur that would make the invention of the computer seem like a small change. It would create various brand new technologies. Using nanotubes, various advancements would occur. Nanotubes are much stronger than other materials. As a matter of fact, it is one hundred times stronger than steel. Not only does it have special strength…

We are now living in a world driven by various electronic equipments. Semiconductors form the fundamental building blocks of the modern electronic world providing the brains and the memory of products all around us from washing machines to super computers. Semi conductors consist of array of transistors with each transistor being a simple switch between electrical 0 and 1. Now often bundled together in there 10’s of millions they form highly complex, intelligent, reliable semiconductor chips, which are small and cheap enough for proliferation into products all around us. Identification of new materials has been, and still is, the primary means in the development of next generation semiconductors. For the past 30 years, relentless scaling of CMOS IC technology to smaller dimensions has enabled the continual introduction of complex microelectronics system functions. However, this trend is not likely to continue indefinitely beyond the semiconductor technology roadmap. As silicon technology approaches its material limit, and as we reach the end of the roadmap, an understanding of emerging research devices will be of foremost importance in the identification of new materials to address the corresponding technological requirements. If scaling is to continue to and below the 65nm node, alternatives to CMOS designs will be needed to provide a path to device scaling beyond the end of the roadmap. However, these emerging research technologies will be faced with an uphill technology challenge. For digital applications, these challenges…
