nanochemical
Task 6.1 Uses of New Materials
P6 Define nanochemicals and describe a use of nanochemicals, smart and specialised materials.

What is nanochemical?

Nanochemicals are chemicals that have been generated by the use of nanomaterials. Nanochemicals are used in different applications, including miltirary weapons, bicyle manufacturing and chemical warfare.Nanochemistry or Nanotechnology are related with the production of nanochemicals, its is a branch of nanoschience and involves the study of nanoscale size materials. It works with materials at a atomic level.

What is a smart material?

Smart materials are a reactive material, they have been specially designed to perform a task or a function specifically. It is a material with a property that can be changed and controlled by external stimuli. The external stimuli causes the change in the smart material properties. A change such as compressing, bening, changing the light intersity or temperature change.

What is a specialised material?

Specialised materials is a substances that is specifically designed for specific usage. For example, in electronic industry it relies on specialised materials to make the components it is using in mobile phones. The key material (specialised material) is Silicon, as it is a semiconductor.

Here are some examples of nanochemcals, smart materials and specialised materials.
Nanochemicals
Smart materials
Specialised materials
Nano wires
Thermochromic materials
Pizoelectric materials
Photochromatic materials
Thermochromic materials
Piezoelectric materials

Task 6.2 Benefits of New Materials

M6 Explain the benefits of using nanochemicals, smart and specialised materials.
Nanochemical
The Pizoelectric effect in Pizoelectric materials have a ability to generate an electric charge. It genergates an alternating current voltage when it is subjected to a mechanical stress. One material of Pizoelectric material is quartz (mineral in earth continental

Metallic substances are substances that are made up of one or more metal. They have regular 3D lattice of positively charged ions. Metallic substances are bond together by metallic bond which has strong electrostatic attraction between the positive ions and the delocalised electrons. These delocalised electrons carry current giving metallic substance the ability to conduct electricity in solid or liquid form. Metallic substances are insoluble in water. Because of strong metallic bond, metallic substances have high melting point. It requires a very large amount of thermal energy to break this strong bond. Metallic substances are malleable; they can be hammered into various shapes. They are also ductile; they can be drawn into thin wires. Metallic substances are very dense and hard.…

Do you believe in technology? Or do you think that all inventions of scientists are worthwhile for humanity? Of course, lots of these inventions are helpful and useful. Also, some of them have created new periods in past. They played a big role for coming modernity. However, there are some inventions that seem very effective but they have brought new problems for humanity and environment. Especially, at the beginning of an invention, people don’t realize that it will become big problem. Nowadays, people are taking notice of this kind of things. Nanotechnology is one of these inventions which are needed to be discussed from point to point. Today, there are some people who believe that nanotechnology is dangerous; however some scientists think that nanotechnology has great benefits because it helps people to invent new things for the future.…

In fact, quartz crystal is a compound called silicon dioxide, just like common sand, so that it is unaffected by most solvents and remains crystalline to hundreds of degrees Fahrenheit. For the most important, it has a property that it generates a charge or voltage on its surface to produce a tiny electric current when the quartz is compressed or bent. This amazing phenomenon is called the piezoelectric effect. The opposite which is called the reverse piezoelectric effect states that it will vibrates at a precise frequency if you pass electricity through quartz.…
