Background—Concerns about weight gain may influence contraceptive use. We compared the

However, there was broad variability in weight change. There are many factors that influence weight gain, with race a likely influence. It is important for healthcare providers to have an evidence-based understanding of the effect of contraception on weight gain so that they can provide appropriate and accurate counseling to patients.
