Today, we will bring you one of the most common deceptions and myths about oral health. Here are top myths in this most common dentist myths.

Brushing and flossing makes bleeding gums worse. If your gums are bleeding, it would seem logical that you would leave them alone until they heal. However, when it comes to your gums, the opposite is true. Bleeding gums are a sign that plaque and bacteria have accumulated along your gum line causing inflammation. You need to brush and floss to remove the debris to allow the tissues to heal. Brushing twice daily and flossing once a day is recommended. Another culprit to inflamed tissues may be calculus build up also knows as tartar or hardened plaque. This cannot be removed by brushing and flossing The only way tartar can be removed, is with the use of dental scalars. Your hygienist ''scrapes'' the hardened plaque off your teeth, along the gum line and under your gums allowing the tissues to heal. For most adults, this accumulated every 3 moths so it's important to see your dental professional regularly to maintain your oral health.
