My trip to France.
Who would have thought that someone's life could change in just two weeks? Well, mine did during spring break of my junior year. I went on a two-week trip to France with my French class. We traveled all over France, from Paris to Mont Saint Michel, along the South of France, and even to Switzerland! I visited places I usually saw on the television screen. I even climbed 627 steps on the world famous Eiffel Tower. I truly enjoyed visiting the Louvre Museum. It is so big that people say it takes about one whole month to go through the entire museum. That visit was very educational and interesting, especially when I finally got to see the most famous painting in history, The Mona Lisa. This once in a lifetime trip changed my life for the better in only two weeks.

As I sat in our tour bus looking at the unique, European buildings of Paris, we suddenly passed by a huge group of protestors. At first I did not think anything of it, but as I took a closer look I noticed that the signs being held read, "Anti-Bush" or "U.S. go home." My initial feeling was terrified, which quickly turned to anger. Then, it hit me with a big bang, we are in war! Being in France and knowing that we were obviously not welcomed, made me realize that I was in danger and my days could be numbered. As a result, I learned that I should not take anything for granted.

Since it was my first time in another country, I have never experienced any big cultural differences. It was my first morning in France and I was craving for some sausages, pancakes, and eggs. When I entered the meal room, there were no signs of the foods I was craving for. Instead, there were baskets of different kinds of breads, cereal, and fruits. The French breakfasts are very small compared to an American breakfast. That night as I was sticking the key into my room door, the lights suddenly turned off. My first thought was that the electricity had gone out. Boy, was I wrong! In France, they try to conserve a lot of energy. In

When my family and I were on vacation in Connecticut we decided to go the New York City. We got up in the morning and drove to the train station. We rode the train into Grand Central Station, it was very beautiful. The ceiling in the station was high and there was loads of light coming in from the windows. After we arrived at the station we walked to the Natural History Museum. We looked at all the exhibits, they were amazing and very interesting. Then we went to Central park and walked around for two miles. My family and I went to this pond in Central park that had a ton of turtles popping in and out of the water. Finally my family and I went to Times Square, it was absolutely amazing! The bright billboards were extremely cool! We walked around…

Fighting in this war is not what I thought it was going to be like. The trenches where fellow soldiers and I are located smell horrid. Bodies are rotting around us and the thick scent of them are filling the already unclean air. It feels like pain in my nose as I am writing this. I am watching men get killed left and right. Today the Germans used tons of lethal chlorine gas on us. We were up against it, it was terrible. We had to urinate on handkerchiefs to prevent the gas from filling our lungs and killing us. I survived somehow, but watching some of my comrades fail to survive really wasn’t bonzer.…

War is a very scary and dangerous monster. It brings the worst in people; it divides families and friends. It makes us question everything we know and with the media we get too much information that we don’t know what to do with it. However, by learning our history, everybody’s role in the government, learning how the system works and learning simple terms like enemy combatant and habeas corpus you can learn that there is more than just our laws and Constitution. We are not alone in this war.…

Sightseeing in Washington was crazy. Seeing monuments, memorials, and museums in real life is unbelievable and emotional. There once was a time that I went to cabo San Lucas Mexico with my family. The reason that this trip was so special too was because I got to spend a whole week with my grandparents, aunts and uncles and most importantly my parents. When we first got we went to are rooms and put are thing down then went right down to the pool. I can still remember the way the pool look and felt because I got cut on one of the tiles in the pool. One there reasons I liked the pool so much is you could just sit there and watch the sun set. Then the next day I went fishing on the beach that was so cool casting out a fishing line and sitting there waiting with family there beaches are so beautiful and nice like the ones you see in TV commercials. I haven’t even got to the best part they have a little cruise called sunset cruise. You rode on a pirate ship and watch people fight and watch the sun go down. I was a lot like the movie call peter pan. This little cruise was so special because in a hurry and I got locked out of my room I forgot to wear shoes so I was without shoes that whole night. There is one restraints that you have to go to when you are there I mean they have unreal food. They have huge tacos filled with anything you want with beans, rice and a side salad. I can taste it now. I also remember the time I went with my grandparents to the beach after the sun went down with one of my uncles. You have experienced nothing until that happened I mean the sand nice and cold between your toes swimming in the ocean you feel so free and wild. That is why cabo San Lucas Mexico is so special to me. I have a lot of good memories there with my…

When I started to look for colleges during high school, I took an unconventional approach towards finding the university that I wanted to attend. My first visit to New Orleans was by accident after my parents canceled our summer trip to Santa Fe because they did not think the food there was good enough. They asked if New Orleans was a better alternative and I jumped at the idea of being in a city that supposedly is rich in ghost . After my first trip, I fell in love with the people, atmosphere, and most importantly the city. The next three years, my family and I came to New Orleans any chance we had, during spring break, winter vacation, and the summer. New Orleans became a place where my imagination was replenished after spending my whole life in Houston. The way I connected to New Orleans was through the distinct architecture and historical presence that I felt through my everyday experiences in the city.…

We attacked then they attacked. It was like a game then slowly they started to win. I will admit it was scary. I was always fighting for my life. It isn’t the place that I would love to be in right now but I have to do in for what I think is right. I wish I just didn’t have to worry about some of my friends dying.
