My Three Favorite Hobbies
Hobbies can enhance a person’s well being. Many people enjoy hobbies. I know people who enjoy football, baseball, basketball, etc. Many people also enjoy more relaxing or not so physical hobbies. For example, sewing, quilting, or reading. My personal three favorite hobbies are music, scrap booking, and cooking. Music is something I have done my entire life. At this point in time I sing, play piano, viola, and the oboe. I have been singing since before I can remember. My very first vocal solo was in the 3rd grade in my school musical. I won the part of Mighty Math Mind. I also got to play viola in that same grade. I have been playing viola since the 2nd grade. When I took private lessons it made me feel extraordinary! I decided that music was a definite choice for me. Oboe, oh oboe. The “oh no oboe” as Mr. Alfred would call it. I am the only one in the whole school who plays it. Surprising, right? Not really. I have been playing the oboe since the 5th grade. As you can most likely see, I love music! Something else I have always enjoyed is scrap booking. My mom’s side of the family lives in the plains of Michigan. On one of our trips there my Aunt Jana showed me her basement. Her basement was full of every scrap booking object you could imagine. She had anything and everything! I’ve been scrap booking since I was in the 3rd grade. Over a lot of time
I have collected three whole shelves of a wide variety of scrap booking objects. I believe that I have such a wide variety and amount of scrap booking things because it is such a relaxing hobby.

You can never regret learning how to cook. You develop new skills every time. For example, if you bake a new recipe for cake you might learn that you need to bake it for more or less time depending on the size. Cooking can be quick and simple, hard and long or anything in-between! I have been cooking since I was a little girl. Given that my dad is a fireman, he has to cook a lot at the

Sculpting is another one of my favorite types of arts & crafts. Sculpting empowers me to take my creativity to a new level. I relish making things with my hands. In fact, I have sculpted many things. The many things include cat heads, cat mouths, and tiny cat figures. I enjoy making cat statues and after making either the head or the mouth, I would then make a mold of it. A mold allows me to make plastic copies of my sculpture to reuse and reuse.…

My favorite activity is going to the beach looking for sea glass. I find it to be very relaxing, and always exciting to see the “gems” I find. I also enjoy spending quality time with family and friends. As I've grown older, I've realized that the family I have is getting older. So any time I spend with them making memories is meaningful to me. I also enjoy going to the gym to keep fit. I try to include sports and activities besides my full-time job, attending college, and homework in my daily life because I believe it is important to be a well-rounded…

I enjoy making time for fixing things around the house and home improvement projects. I guess I have been a handyman and tinkerer of sorts most of my life. As a child one my most memorable past times was taking things apart in an attempt to repair or discover how things work, while helping dad with house projects was usually fun and educational. As a homeowner and dad, doing home projects and repairs with the guidance and supplies from my favorite home improvement center is one of my favorite past times.…

Music has played a significant role throughout my whole life. All throughout middle school and high school I have been a performer, participating in many different musical organizations including orchestra and choir. These personal experiences have broadened my interests in music. In middle school I was in choice voices, which was a special singing group for people who excelled in singing. When I went to high school I stayed in the same program and even became senior section leader of my choir, conducting different songs at our concert and being in charge of different performances. During my childhood I was part of the choir at my church, and performed during the different holiday masses.…

Plato once said, “Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything.” My passion for music began at a young age. Hearing Chopin’s Ballade no.1 in G-minor was life changing to me. Whereas this may seem cliché, the unique textures, rhythms, and chord structure kept me on my toes. Because of that one experience, I took an interest in music. At the time, I insisted greatly on playing the piano. Unfortunately, we weren’t fortunate enough to pay for lessons or to even purchase a piano. In result, I chose to play clarinet. During my sixth grade year, I practiced vigorously to earn the spot of being first chair. Throughout my sixth and seventh grade years, my band class would have chair tests to see who was the most…

Music is my passion. It is a powerful way for me to speak my feelings and ideas. Shakespeare wrote likewise: “When words fail, music speaks.” At times my words have failed, and my feelings have been left unspoken, but my music is a way for me to say and create what my words cannot express. When I sit at the piano, I’m genuinely excited to practice, because I feel music is a world of infinite, heavenly expression. My love of music has driven me to compose several pieces, learn fluent improvisation, and master a long repertoire. I have been influenced by my passion for music in mathematical, linguistic, spiritual, emotional, and artistic ways. Advantageous to the brain and spirit, music will aid me with all of my college pursuits. When I discovered…

In his leisure time, a man is free to do whatever he wants. Yet the best way to occupy oneself while at home or on holiday is to indulge in a hobby. A hobby is a person’s favourite activity, which he does for pleasure as contrasted with his job. Common hobbies are gardening, collecting stamps or other items, making art and craft, drawing and reading. Some people like to knit and sew, while others like to build miniature buildings or indulge in bird-watching. Some like to take photographs, while others write stories or poems. All these are hobbies.…
