My Personal Work Ethics
A powerful influence on how I see and experience things around me is noticing people’s work ethics. Someone work ethic shows a lot about what I think of them and changes how I interact with them. Growing up, my parents always worked and at the end of the day would talk about what they did that day. My dad only worked four and a half days, but everyday he worked, he never took a lunch break and was there before patients arrived and was one of the last people to leave. Even now, after procedure he completes, he calls the patient in the evening to check up on them. When I watch him work and see the effort he puts into every patient and everything he does inspires me to first become a dentist, but also to put the effort in so that people respect your work.

I know that not everything comes easy for me, but I continue to try even when I get knocked down. Knowing this is how I see myself, if people don’t follow in similar steps I start losing patience for them. Being a tutor has been a good and bad thing because I have a few tutees that are just in tutoring to get the extra + at the end of the letter, versus some who are in the class because they have to. It is the latter that causes trouble because they need to be motivated, and when they don’t take notes it class, I have to remind myself not everyone always wants to work hard. When I experience people not doing everything they can to get to the top of their career or even do the basics in life it frustrates me. I always thing that if I was in their place what I would be doing. It makes me want to interfere, but I have found out that people accept my help better if I don’t tell them what to do but question some of their ideas on what they are
