For me, it all started on the first week of September. All I saw was these big guys playing basketball and soccer and I was wondering whether or not I will be able to fit in. Everyone else was eagerly waiting for the first school bell to ring after like 3 months of summer while I was just standing there looking everywhere as if I was lost. Eventually, all of these started to change as I started to know people better. Thing was, they weren’t as furious or mean as I thought they might be. In the beginning of the school year, I used to nervously switch classes without actually knowing where to go, but now I am familiar with this school like all the others. I managed to develop many new skills and stuff during grade 7. Before I knew it, it was June, grade 7 ended, and to my…

I can remember my mother telling me for a few weeks before the first day how wonderful school was going to be and how I would meet loads of new friends. She also told me that the other kids are going to be scared just like I was. Turning five years old, and knowing that it was time for me to begin school already, was really very scary. The thought of waking up early and going to school and not being with my mom all morning made me feel sick to my stomach, but I just had to suck it up and go. The first day of kindergarten I was sad but also excited at the same time because I was going to meet new friends and I was going to get to play with them during recess. I remember walking into school with my new back pack; they were the ones that had to two little wheels on it so you wouldn't have to carry it.…

Today’s generation of school children are part of a “connected” age where it is natural to not only use technology in everyday life, but in school as well. New technologies in the classroom offer a more engaging way to learn, one where the students no longer learn passively but instead by interacting, with computers and electronic devices the new school supplies. University level, high school and primary students alike are beginning to make good use of fast-moving technology by staying up to date with current information, discovering learning techniques that work for them, as well as connecting with the rest of the world, making for an enhanced learning experience. Here are a few great examples of modern technologies that have made classroom learning more engaging, efficient and fun for students and teachers alike.…

I know that in today’s society there will be many challenges one will face when choosing to become a teacher. I believe that learning how to maintain a classroom’s balance might prove to be difficult to a first year teacher. I know it will take a lot of patience and critique from peers to get into a “flow”. Teachers make literally hundreds of decisions every day, and many of them must be made with nearly spilt-second timing. There may be an issue of an electronic failure that prevents a teacher from following a prepared lesson plan. He/she will have to decide on how to teach the curriculum without the use of that aid. There may be an instance where behavior is an issue and the teacher needs to decide if the entire classroom should be effected or just a few students.…

Technology of the past 20 years has become a focal point of teaching and learning. As a teacher, it is my job to facilitate the learning for an individual by creating an environment that not only conducive for learning, but also places the child in a position to discover and learn them for themselves. Technology has given teachers to opportunity to take learning beyond the classroom, and has begun to reshape their role in the learning process.…

Technology-enhanced learning is the future. Although in the 1980’s technology in the classroom was a new theory, today technology can be found in Pre-K-College classrooms. Teachers are using computers, iPads, iPods, tablets, and TV to help students learn. As technology-based learning moves towards the future, new trends are emerging. There is still some fear about technology in the classroom. This leads to teachers are making personal technological decisions in the classroom. These teacher’s habits have resulted from a change in students’ learning environments. This is a result of a shift in students’ ideal learning environments, and the fact, that students want to see a greater usage of and more collaborative technology in the classroom.…

Using technology in primary classrooms by: Roseanne DePasquale, Erin McNamara, and Karen Murphy details how technology has definitely become a part of most children’s lives. Many school systems and child development programs have implemented technology into their programs as a learning tool. With the use of growing technology in classrooms many questions have arose. According to the article, “Visions of programmed instruction and electronic worksheets have caused teachers to fear that children will miss out on key experiences that support their development if computer technology infiltrates teaching.” I agree with this statement because students should have a balance between instructional patterns. In this article, I was introduced to some of the broader issues around using technology with young children. All three authors of this article gave great examples of how to integrate technology into lesson plans for young children in relation to science.…

It seems odd to me to write a paper about the importance of technology in education. While there may still be skeptics within the field of education, I would imagine that most people would agree that a technology rich environment enhances a child's education at least to some degree. Even teachers who are reluctant to infuse technology into their lesson plans would have to see the merit of students using technology consistently in classrooms. Most of the recent research articles I've read on technology and classroom learning conclude not only that there is an increase in student achievement in technology rich classroom environments, but also an increase in student motivation, especially among at risk students.…
