My Most Special Moment
Once I was training in my boxing gym and I was lifting 18kg weights. The other weights were set out on the floor for when I needed them. I was on my last set of ten when I fell back and the weight came crashing down and landed on my leg. I couldn’t feel my left leg. I twisted my ankle and then I was rolling around in excrushiating pain. My manager came in once he heard my call of pain. He sat me up and I hobuld over to the ring. He sat me down on the side of the ring and got me a glass of warter. Ten minutes later I gave my dad a call and he came straight to the gym. My dad and my manager took me to hospital.

We arrived in an hours time. The traffic was bad and I hobuld over to a chair and sat there with my manager while my dad went to reseption. By the time we got to the hospital my leg had swollen up to the size of a baby elephants foot. I was called in, the doctor said ‘What is your name?’ I said ‘Mark.’ I was given an x-ray and sent to the emergency room and was told some hart breaking news considering that I had a big fight coming up, they said, you have broken your tibia and sprained your ankle. I had to stay in a hospital bed for 2 to 3 months.

Each day my leg was getting better, My family visited every day and my manager to. I was getting better pritty fast. My manager came in the room and gave me good and bad news. I said, ‘Can I hear the good news first?’ ‘OK,’ he said. I was told that Joe Calzaghe, one of the best boxers in the world, was coming to see me in a few weeks time. And the bad news was that my boxing match was canceled but I wasn’t bothered about that.

After a week, Joe came to see me. I was waiting with the door open. He came in and my dad and my manager left us to talk. We were just chatting about boxing and I was asking questions about how many fights he had won. He said just over 18 in his career. He asked me how any I had won and I told him six so far. We had a good chat and a cuple of moments later he said, ‘Will you be able to

When they got to me, my dad picked me up and carried me to the car. We got in and he drove me home. Then he helped me get out of the car. The pain was so bad I had to hop to the door. Once inside our house, I hopped over to the couch, and laid down.…

I was a Freshman on the Salem Varsity Gymnastics team, and practice consisted of preparing the team for regionals. An unknown pain in my back wound me up in the trainer's office for an hour of the two and a half hour practice. After finishing the season strong, even though I wanted to give up countless times, pushing myself to work through the pain paid off at regionals. Even though I should have stopped because I made the pain and recovery time longer, I refused to give up on my team the week before regionals. The minute season ended, I decided to go see my doctor, he said I pulled a muscle, and the solution was rest, heat, and ice.…

One of my friends asked me if I was okay and i said "yeah I am fine". But then he asked me if I was okay after the hit? I said "yeah it hurt a little bit I'm okay now". The trainer checked me out for a little bit and asked me multiple questions which I thought I answered correctly but before you know it there was a ambulance and a fire truck sitting in the parking lot. Although I have had many injuries growing up, there is one that particularly changed my life for the better. The injury occurred when I was playing eighth grade football. It was August and we were scrimmaging Westfield; a very good team that had a lot of big players. The coach called me onto the field to play fullback, which means that I was probably going to carry the football. As I was running onto the field my heart started to beat a little faster. I had a bad feeling about getting the ball. I thought that I was going to get hurt because on the play prior the fullback ahead of me injured his knee on a run. Everything went well for the first few plays, but on the fifth play the coach called a fullback run. My heart was racing, at the snap of the ball I ran ahead for about an eight yard gain, but on the way down I felt a horrible pain in my right foot. I ended up going to the hospital a half an hour later, the doctor said that I had multiple fractures (6 to be exact), possibly some torn ligaments, and a dislocation of a few bones. I really did a number on myself. The doctor claimed to me that I would be out for at least 6 weeks, which is over halfway through the regular season. The doctor also highly recommended that I go see a sports injury specialist, or a foot specialist.…

Nick said, “your eyelid is bleeding like crazy.” I ran to the kitchen. My mom starts screaming my dad got ice for my eye. Mom turned off the stove and we go in the car and went to the hospital. There I was laying on the field, during the second half of my football game, tossing and turning as I held my right shoulder in agonizing pain. I looked up only to see the trainer looking down at me with a concerned look. “What’s wrong?” he asked. Repeatedly I tapped my shoulder as I was struggling to get the words out. He helped me up and walked me back to the sideline. I waited for what seemed like hours for the game to end. A few days later, I went to a local doctor to get an X-ray. The doctor told me that there was nothing wrong and that the pain should subside in a couple of days, and it did. Later in the season as I went in for a tackle, I felt my shoulder pop. Immediately I was in pain and thought to myself, “ It happened again.” This…

I was at practice one Wednesday night of January the 11th, in the middle of a defensive drill In which I planted my foot and put all my weight on it ready to turn the ball handler. Then made a quick few steps then dropped to the hardwood I was in a world of hurt. I quickly grabbed at my leg grimacing with pain as my head laid back. I tried to hold back tears, after receiving help to sit down I could feel the cooling of ice on my leg, however, I wasn't able to pinpoint the exact part the pain was coming from. My dad had to come and pick me up and I could not put any weight whatsoever on my leg for literally three days. My mom took me to get an x-ray the next day, the doctor said: “Well the x-rays don't show anything let’s wait a while and if you still have any complications then we’ll schedule an MRI.” About a week and a half went by until I finally got the MRI it took about an hour and the machine kept giving off these strange loud noises it was weird. Then we had to wait for a few days to get the results, It was that Saturday at six o'clock that me and my brother and sister were at my grandma’s then my mom called asking to speak to me I picked up the phone not expecting what I was about to hear, “Cameron, the results came back and you have a completely torn ACL, you need to come home and get back on the crutches.” It felt like I just got shot, I was not expecting a torn…

My sophomore year while playing in a football game, I tackled a player from the other team right before half-time. While I was making the tackle, I felt a pop in my knee. It wasn’t very painful because of the adrenaline in my system at the time but the next day the pain came. It felt like there was a rubber band getting caught on my knee and coming off almost every step I took. I just put this pain aside through part of basketball season until the pain was too much and I went to get a check up, then a MRI, then before i knew it I had to get surgery for a torn meniscus. This ended my basketball season. After surgery I went to my rehab physical therapist Dr. Marty in Centralia. He got my knee back in good working order after…

I was soon released from the hospital, and allowed to go home. It is impossible to forget the lousy car ride home. It hurt to sit up straight, so I laid down in the backseat of my mom’s Ford Explorer, and proceeded to watch a movie. By the time I got home, my back was killing me. I was forced to stay on our couch for the next few days, and needed help walking and showering, since I was not allowed to do anything to harm the stitches placed in both of the open wounds.…
