My Life In Middle School-Personal Narrative
This year has been a whirlwind of good and bad times. Between being gone for half the year, making amazing friends and having the best classes, this year was pretty great. Going into highschool is terrifying, I'm going to miss my teachers, classes, and friends I've made here in middle school. This year has changed me so much that I can't even think what will happen next.
You have to fight even if you're not doing it for yourself “You gotta swim/ Through nights that won't end/ Swim for your families/ Your lovers your sisters/ And brothers and friends”(Jack’s Mannequin). While going through the migraines, all I wanted to do was give up and go back to bed but I had to “Just keep swimming”(Dory). I didn't want to but because of the help from everyone

I have changed into a completely different person over the course of a mere 9 months, still sarcastic as ever and a procrastinator by trade but now I am more chill about things I can't control. I understand I won't get 100% every time, I get that I have restrictions, I understand how to live even when faced with challenges.
“Swim” by Jack’s Mannequin is my theme song because it talks about the struggles but also that you have to keep going. It's ok if you're not 100% all the time “You gotta swim/ Swim in the dark/ There's no shame in drifting”(Jack’s Mannequin), just keep pushing. Throughout this past year what I had to do was stay afloat, I didn't make much progress for a while but I'm still here and able to make progress because I rested.
My attention was shifted off of school for most of the year and that was quite difficult, it has helped me to balance my life now. I used to push myself to my breaking point at least three times a month, I am now able to understand why taking breaks is so important. I have no choice but to take care of myself if I never want to have a migraine

The theme in the story Into the rapids by Bradford H. Robie is having courage even if you're alone. In the story it says," He knew he had to let go of the idea that someone was going to swoop down and save him. I have to get out of this myself, he realized. " This shows that even when Wyatt was on his own, with his raft out of reach, he still had hope in himself and he knew he had to do it alone. This means that even when people can't save you, you still have to find that motivation, and a part in yourself to keep you going, even when you are alone.…

Yough Intermediate Middle School, a comical and controlled environment. Waking up everyday to come to school is a nuisance. It worth every second of the day because of the amazing teachers, students, and staff. The curricular activities are as creative as a Picasso painting. The adventures I have gone on in Yough has taken me through life even more. The adventures have been vigorous, inferior, and patchy.…

“Storm the beach.” Keith Mancil. As I go through life I am realizing that it is getting more and more challenging every single day. The school work is piling up, the aspect of becoming an adult is becoming real. As I go through my everyday routines and just try to make it to the end of the day, I am starting to realize that, this is only the beginning. I have not even begun to feel the full responsibilities of what an adult is required to go through daily. However, I have one characteristic that will become very handy when it is time for me to start taking on adult responsibilities. That characteristic that shapes who I am is determination.…

Aisha and I met each other in the 5th grade when we were both placed at the back of the class. She is now a sophomore at Aspire Langston Hughes Academy. Aisha is a 16 years old Pakistani girl who lives with her parents and younger brother She has with wavy purple-magenta hair reminiscent of candy. She speaks with a slight accent and is quite overdramatic. I’ve known for 6 years now. The reason Aisha and I are still extremely close is because we went through the same hardships during our late elementary school years, and she was the only person who kept me alive and sane in middle school and high school.…

My junior year in high school I took two classes from teachers who gave immense amounts of work on difficult material. The classes were Honors Pre-Calculus and Advanced Biological Studies II. After a day at school and a demanding golf practice until dark, it was time to start my homework. By then I was already exhausted, but I still had hours of homework ahead of me. Most schools nights I would not be able to start my hefty pile of homework until 8 o'clock. Many nights the strenuous assignments given in Honors Pre-calculus and Advanced Biological Studies II kept me awake late into the night, even as late as 4 am. It was difficult struggling to stay awake and complete my strenuous workload after an entire day of activity. A full night of sleep…

I’ve always had lofty, perhaps unrealistic. In middle school, I naively assumed that I would be in top 12% of my class, by simply making A’s. I tried my hardest in every classes, but still wasn’t enough. I never reached my goal of being in top 12%, as a result my self-esteem plummeted. I started high school with high hopes once again. Perhaps even more naively, I pursued the goal of being ranked number one. I was too young to realize the concept of “realistic” goals. My biggest obstacle was my state of mind. I brought my self-down. I told myself the only way to be the best is to be better than everyone else. Setting such a high goal did help me in the end. After the second semester of freshman year, I received my rank. I was ranked number 10;…

Ten years old is rough for kids, but what happened to me made those pre-teen years even worse. My parents had been divorced for two years when the unthinkable happened, my dad announced he was getting remarried. I was introduced to the woman named Melissa and her daughter Audrey, but I was unaware that the joining of the two families would impact my life forever. Though the road was not easy, Melissa helped me discover who I was meant to be, and the things she taught me affect me everyday.…

Its my Junior year in High School, so far its been the BEST but the MOST challenging. I have compared myself from this year to my freshman and sophomore years, I think I have matured and become more responsible and organized with school and personal life. I have seen my report card this year and my grades have IMPROVED compared to my last two years. I do not go out and party anymore, I stay home with my family and I study more often now and actually finish all of my school work. This year has been Very challenging for me because since I have slacked my two important years in high school and never paid attention, some of my classes are difficult for me to understand and complete the work.…

I was the kind of guy who always strove in order to get the highest grades but yet hadn’t decided what to do in the future. I wasn’t worried, I knew someday I would find something in what I was good at. I got to live with that thought for some time until I got to attend middle school, where I stopped worrying about my grades and managed only to pass the subjects. I spent most of my time sleeping due to the frustration of not knowing what to do in the future. Most of my middle school experience was tasteless. I hadn’t friends at all, and teachers used to discourage their students about their future. “You're not going to college, you’ll not be able to do it because you’re poor” used to say, Mrs. Vazquez, the math teacher who instead of giving her class, talked on how much his son had accomplished in college and how we would not be able to attend. That was about to change.…

Malcolm X once said, “There is no better than adversity. Every defeat, every heartbreak, every loss, contains its own seed, its own lesson on how to improve your performance the next time.” In the face of overwhelming adversity, what gives me the cause to hope? Ever since I was little I have been competitive in all different levels and types of sports, many of which I have stared right into the face of adversity. Injuries, family problems, and being strewn out between 400 miles of highway between Tennessee and Georgia have given me plenty of reason to give up on my sports…my true passion and desire. Did I give up? Did I let the face of adversity tear me down? No. I let my desire to persevere build me up even stronger. Instead of adversity staring me in the face, I was the one staring into adversity’s face. I have been asked, “What gives me the cause to hope?” Being able to prove to myself and others that I am capable of withstanding and overcoming any obstacle that life and adversity throws at me, is what gives me the cause to hope. I have learned over the years that no matter how hard or how massive the obstacle, if you believe in yourself and have faith in you and your abilities, you will persevere. You have to be wondering, it cant just be the desire to prove myself that gives me cause to hope, what else could it be? I have faith in myself and in my character traits. I know that everything I am faced with I will fight with the heart of a C.H.A.M.P.I.O.N. To me the word C.H.A.M.P.I.O.N. means: Courage, Hard Work, Attitude, Motivation, Perseverance, Integrity, Outstanding, and Desire to be Number One. I truly believe that when I am facing adversity in the face that I will prove myself and fight with the heart of a C.H.A.P.I.O.N. I agree with Scott Hamilton when he says this, “Adversity, and perseverance and all these things can shape you. They can give you a value and a self-esteem that is…

I have had to work harder than ever to get back to where I wanted to be. When Kanye sings, “if i ain't on my grind, then what you call that,” it symbolizes how hard Kanye has worked to be where he is right now. This can represent the pain and suffering I had to endure at physical therapy in order to be able to play sports at a higher level than before my injury. One of the “moral of the story” in “The Old Man and the Sea” is persistence. As we remember, Santiago went for about 80 days without catching a single fish. Even though many of us would have quit, Santiago stayed strong. Because of this, he was able to catch the huge marlin. I can relate to this because I will be unable to play sports for 9-12 months. While quitting sports all together could have been an option, I have only worked harder to get better. Although there were struggles associated with the injury, it allowed me to focus on one thing:…
