My Ideal Job
My Ideal Job
What would my Ideal job be, well let’s see I have always wanted to be a coach of some sort whether I am coaching football, basketball, or baseball etc. No matter what that particular sport is I want to coach it. The reason behind this is because I have always seen myself as some type of positive mentor to you kids. I can say that I learned this from my coach about eleven years ago. He was a real leader and when he said something you listened he always had your attention no matter what. He could walk into a room and there would be instant silence even if the teacher was giving a class. He led by actually be that positive role model, you never saw him doing the negative things that our kids see their so-called role models doing today.
For example there was this one time during the summer of 2000, when I was just a bullheaded stubborn little teenager who would not listen to anyone. I was playing football at the time and I thought that was all that mattered football, “Forget my grades everything will be fine” is what I told myself. Turns out I was wrong and that summer I could not do weight training or summer workouts with the team because of my grades. He came to me and pretty much told me like it was, he didn’t sugar coat anything which is what I think I needed at the time because no one ever talked to me like that. In much nicer words he said to me, “Milton you have so much potential not only on the football field but you have the potential to be something great in life and you’re wasting it all because you want to be an idiot”. In my head I was thinking, “WOW I have never had someone talk to me like that before”. I immediately started thinking about straightening up my act and getting into summer school in order to play football because I didn’t want to let him or my teammates down.
By the end of that summer I became eligible to play football in the fall and I owe it all to my coach. If he did not lay it all on the line for me the way he did I

In 5th grade I was on the best team in the OFA. The coaches were nice and mean but I didn't care. The hard practices did make me better I slammed a 6th grader bigger than me. At football practice the coaches made us run pole to pole which means we all run like 400 yards. At every football practice I got hurt in some way. We won every game the last game aka the championship game it was 6 to 7.…

Towards the second year of high school during the winter months, where soccer was not in season an opportunity happened to me that made me a better soccer player. There was a group of kids over at Air Force base who would go to the indoor soccer field and just practice around. I was one of those guys and we would meet up and play around twice a week. Practicing with those guys made me good but not good enough. But one day when we were doing our regular practice one of the soccer players who plays for the Air Force team saw me asked me to show up and join one of their practice. So I did. After a couple of practice they decided to let me join their team. I asked the guy why he chose me to join with them, and his response was that I reminded of him back when he was younger. He told me that I had determination and love for this game and that I just needed to practice harder and more. Which is the reason why he had me join his team so that I could practice with them.…

It all started at ninth street with some friends of mine John and I started recruiting some people to come play football with us. I honestly didn’t know I had a pretty decent arm. I originally was going to start practicing to play wide receiver instead of quarterback. At the time Odell Beckham Jr. ( wide receiver for the New York Giants ) was extremely explosive and dynamic on offense. Seeing him blow up on offense made me want to try out for wide receiver. But somehow John convinced me to play quarterback.…

When summer came I got plenty of scholarship offers from colleges, however a good portion of them just wanted me for my football ability and had horrible learning programs so I instantly threw those away. I finally decided on one and applied to that college. They accepted me and I enrolled. I went to college and played football and did great, but I still had the other half of college to worry about. I wasn't going to think I was going to get to be a pro no matter what so I studied hard to become a Civil engineer. After three years I had the opportunity to become a pro and I accepted it. After spending two years in the minors I got called up. When my first game with the Green Bay Packers came I was nervous, wondering what it would be like. I was a defensive end and I was very good at that position and had learned a lot in the minors but nevertheless I was worried. The game started and the my team lost the toss. Our kicker kicked the ball and the receiver came to my end of the field and him and I were facing each other and all of a sudden I tripped over myself and the Detroit Lions scored a…

My middle school volleyball coach has been the most influential person in my life. In 6th grade I had never picked up a volleyball until the day of tryouts. Miraculously I made the team. Coach Brittany helped to build up my confidence and helped to greatly build up my skills. I made the team again in seventh grade. This year turned out to be a bit harder. I was suppose to play middle front, which I loved dearly, but I didn't understand the transitions off the net, so she got mad at me in front of everyone and switched my position. It was one of the most embarrassing and humbling experiences of my life. That year I learned to love a position that I originally hated and Coach Brittany said to me, " When you're not the best, if you work hard,…

I was also selected two times for team captain because my coach seen great leadership in me. My team also gave me an award called "Mr. Get Right.” I was given this reward because if we were down I would recall a scripture that ties in with the situation, and everything would turn for the better. Not to mention being led by God has not led me to give up which brought many accomplishments. I have received many awards and accomplishments thanks to my athletic abilities. On and off the field, I knew my role was to lead our class and team. From the weight room to the track, and even in the classroom, I lead by example and empowered others on a journey unique to each person. Teaching freshman, and staying after practice to help those that needed it, helped me realize the uttermost selfish thing we can do is believe our actions only affect ourselves. Everything we do affects someone else for the better or for the worse. There is no other environment that lends the same leadership opportunities and experiences than that of a football. I can truly say that without playing football in high school, I would not have grown into the person I am today, nor possess the same intellectual characteristics. I am grateful for all experiences, whether seemingly beneficial or adverse, as it is the conglomerate of experiences that makes us who we…

I knew something was serious and my parents came and drove me to the hospital. At the hospital they told me my appendix was about to burst and I would have to have emergency surgery. For the next 6 weeks I was mandated to sit out as I watched my senior season slip through my fingertips. I sat at home for the first week and reflected on how my attitude should be when I come back. I came to the conclusion I was still the leader of the team and even if I wasn’t able to play, I could still lead the team and show my commitment through continuous support. It was not easy. Watching your whole school cheer on everyone else, knowing you are the game changer sitting on the sideline because of a fluke body reaction. Through all of this I learned to fight through hard times and be positive and work hard because when I was able to return, I was more than ready. In the final game I played and my first game back, I rushed for 197 yards, two touchdowns, and led the defense in tackles. I can truly say I have never been more proud of myself and not only was it because I worked hard to recover from my injury, but because I showed my teammates that I would not give up and I would stick by them and do everything possible. It was a bittersweet feeling to leave the field for my last high school football game, but it was definitely more sweet than…

My freshmen year was the only season where the football team was actually really good as a team. The other years we have been ok, but nothing amazing. So as the best player on the team with a goal of playing college football, sometimes I was forced to just play for myself. This wasn’t how I wanted it to be, but I didn’t have a choice because a lot of my teammates didn’t put forth the effort required to be a successful…

One of my proudest accomplishments that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of myself and others was my time in football. I had never played sports in my life, this made it very hard to transition onto the field. The first year I played football I found it hard to make friends and I also was very out of shape. One of my coaches helped me through my tough time and I began to train very hard in the off-season. I had never experienced such commitment to a single part of my life. I ended up playing a couple games, even though it was my very first year on the field. During the sophomore off-season I had an intense dedication to catch up to my other teammates. I knew I could never let my team down in a game situation. I decided…

Considering the effects of advertising on consumers, there are a few risks that advertisers take in placing advertisements on MySpace. One risk taken, Advertisers may try to minimize information about the product. Now that means the consumers or people on MySpace that see this ad, are not getting the full run down on information that they need to distinguish whether or not the product is a need to them or not. Another risk on advertising on MySpace is to modify the nature of the communication media where it is shown. For instance on MySpace, when they advertise a new movie, they like to re-design the background so that it grabs your attention. Now the bad side to this is that, when you make an annoying background, people aren’t going to sit there and want to look at it. The frustration of the mixed colors and things moving all over your screen is a turn off to most people from my experience. What kind of people or personalities might companies try to appeal to by advertising on MySpace? Well that’s a pretty easy question to answer, Teenagers. If you have noticed on MySpace, it’s not advertisements of a new movie, its more than likely advertisements of music artists. For example, I have recently checked out the main home page of MySpace and all you see over it is a bunch of Rap Stars, Pop Stars, and Hip Hop artists. Most of the artists they are advertising are the famous ones such as Akon, Justin Timberlake, and Ludicrous. These are names of most of the top music brands that Teenagers in high school are listening to at the time being. You very rarely see advertisements for adults on MySpace because it’s more run by the lower and upper teens over populating it. Not saying that there aren’t any adults on there but, most are teens on MySpace and it’s a really big area to advertise if you want to get their attention. Most big Movie Businesses and Music Labels have already started advertising there big movies and song artists. The MySpace environment, will it make it…

My dream job is to become an Optometrist whom examines people's eyes to diagnose vision problems, eye diseases, and other conditions. To start off my mission of perusing this job I would have to take as many science and biology courses in high school. Find a college where I can take three years of pre-optometry courses. Take the Optometry Admissions Test during my second or third year in college. The test will measure my academic and scientific knowledge. Apply for my license after receiving my O.D. degree. I may also consider a one-year postgraduate program if I want to become a specialist. In addition to being an optometrist, I would have to develop my communication skills and social skills. I have a clear vision of my destination in mine, and in return I would love to make everyone's vision just as clear.…
