“My God Experience”
When I was about 13 years old, all I do is have fun and think of myself, I was selfish, naughty and ungrateful of the things which surrounded me. But it all changed in a blink of an eye. Our house burned down on Feb.4, 2008 and my Grandfather died on March 6, 2008 due to colon cancer. This sequence of events, awaken me from the depths of my blindness to reality. And those incidents changed my life and my views in life; I have opened my heart and mind to God. Who never ceased to abandon me and my family in times of problems and difficulties.
Because of those incidents a lot in my personality changed as well my views in life, I have become more responsible of my action I am aware of the problems of our family and most especially that was the point where I have experience God’s strongest presence in my life. I have never felt God as strong as how I felt that moment it was like his beside us. Compared to how we used to live it was very different we used to always have enough but after everything that had happened it all vanished and so in starting a new life we have to start from nothing to something. In the beginning it was hard especially seeing my Father suffer everything or rather doing all the hard work and we also happen to experience it but not as heavy as the duty done by our father there was a lot of time that God never ceased to abandon us and showed us that even though in our up’s and down’s he will still be with us in one incident we ran out of money to buy food but with our family and my father’s faith in God, a considered miracle or rather blessing from God happened it was 10 in the evening our father looked for money but when the time he hovered back he approached us with a “pancit bihon” in a plastic bag he told us that on his 3rd passenger a generous woman gave him 200 pesos in payment to his service of getting her to her destination safely even though the destination of the woman was not that far, we considered it as a Blessing in disguise. And that

My mother kept her rental property and worked hard to give her children a good life, but adversity soon visited my life again. When I was in the sixth grade my mother lost her rental property and her hours at work dramatically slowed down. Things were slowly but surely changing. This is when I started to let adversity get the best of me. In school I always was talkative and got in a little trouble from time to time, but I knew when to stop. I was developing a nasty ‘’ I do not care’’ attitude, authority did not mean as much as it used to. I gradually started getting into more and more trouble. My behavior put more unneeded stress on my mother. It would have been easy to just blame my behavior on the lost of my father, but over time, I realized that the world does not stop for anyone. There are just some things you have to learn from and then move on. I believe God put all these circumstances in my life for a reason. He blessed my mother with a better job, and he also changed me. I started to understand what responsibility is. He blessed me to go to a high school where I could learn more about him. If I did not attend my high school I probably would not see the blessing in my adversity. Now I am not completely over the loss of my father, but I strive for success not only for me, but for him also. I have real motivation I can see every day…

Who I was prior to November 4, 2012 was a very hurt, wounded, and trapped individual. No my life did not change automatically in that moment, but it was that moment that encouraged my process of change. I am so grateful to God for that morning on my floor that started a chain reaction of constant crying out to God. I made it a habit because in that moment He heard me despite all of the sin I was stuck in, He still heard me. He let me know on that day that it did not matter what I did He would always love me. His love for me is everlasting and it does not change because of my…

I was working and partying. A week to week job and no real plans for my future. Everything changed when I got a phone call from my mother one day and she told me my grandparents had been diagnosed with lung cancer and needed to be cared for in their home. I made the only decision I felt I could make and decided to change everything I was doing and care for my grandparents.…

I have endured and overcome many obstacles, which have taught me many valuable lessons and have empowered me to become who I am today. My childhood was different from others, I grew up in a single parent home. I watched as my mother worked as hard as she possibly could to provide for my siblings and I. It was just us, no family or very many friends. They were all left behind in order for my mother to start a new life in a new country. Everyday, when she came home, I remember thinking that my mother deserved so much more than having to work this toilsome job. I felt culpable whenever she came home with a backache or feeling extra weary. I would later come to find out why she was working harder, more than usual.…

    A Change in My Life

I have endured many changes in my life and many of them have happened over the past six years. Here are some examples of the changes I have gone through that lead up to the greatest change of my life graduating high school, getting married to the love of my life, loosing my grandfather, and having my son. But none of those changes could prepare me for the greatest change in my life that I had to go through, and that happened on November 19, 201. What started as a typical Saturday morning with a visit with my parents would not end that way. My eighteen year old brother Wilson Gaut was staying the night with a friend of his Friday night and was suppose to be home Saturday morning well we had not heard from him and my mother asked me to call him to see if he wanted to her to hold breakfast for him. Well there was no answer so we went on about our morning and about ten minutes past and she told me to call him back and I did still no answer. At this point I went and began to get my clothes on and I heard my mother yelling and my stepfather telling her to calm down . Then she went to yelling for me and my car keys. When she opened the door I could tell she had been crying but I did not know what was going on. I went running after her and my stepdad told me to go with her after we got in the car she still had not told me what was going on. My mother began telling me to call my family members for example my grandmother and my aunt. My grandmother did not answer so I was told to have my aunt call her until she got an answer. We got to Upper Fort Hapton Road and I saw the rescue unit on in the road directing traffic and we told them that we were with family of the child, I still had no idea what happened. We topped the hill and I could see the fire trucks and ambulance I had then figured out that my brother was hurt. I saw a white sheet on the side of the road covering a body and I knew…

My whole life has been full of a lot of challenges and obstacles that I’ve overcome. Out of all the events that have changed my life there is one specific thing that I have came to see is, that I should be very thankful for having both parents together in my life constantly. I realized this last year when my pops had brought it to my attention. We got on that topic when he was just talking about life as an adult. Then with my pops in my ear like he always is, he kept telling me all this stuff I wasn’t trying to hear I looked at everyone around and I then saw that I was blessed to have a mom and dad in my life that were married. Then from that day forward I really started to listen instead of ignoring what he had to say. I also saw that just the simple fact of having a father in my life all the time was something you do not see every day. With all of this being said, both parents being together still affects my views on family and responsibilities tremendously. All these things that I became aware of have really changed my life in a good way.…

Last year, I lived a different experience that made me open my eyes and see all that I have, and how grateful I have to be. It was a community service in La Otra Banda de Carora, a little town of Venezuela. It is called LAS (Lasallista Apostolic Service). I went with two friends and an adult. There I met many friends from different cities. I attended there for ten days. The first 3 days were in the school, then we spent 5 days in the town, and the last 2 days we went back to the school. When we were in the school a group of adults gave us some preparation and they put us in teams. After we had known what we had to do and had been organized, we went to the town. This experience has affected me in different ways.…
