My future and my dreams
My future and my dreams

Every since childhood there have been many hopes and goals for the future. Along with these two were aspirations. There was always hope for something. I could not imagine that one day I would have to tie those hopes into my future. I thought my hopes were just silly childhood dreams that would eventually fade away as the years would change. For hours I would just sit and ponder over different things. Adults would say things like “What do you hope to become when adult hood is reached?” My reply would always be “I want to be a millionaire.” Thinking it would just happen when I reached the “golden” age of eighteen, I never once thought about how I would become this rich man. However, the older I became, the more I thought about hopes. The dictionary states that hope is a wish or desire accompanied by confident expectation of its fulfillment. Knowing the true meaning of hope gave me an even stronger desire.
The object of a strong desire or an ambition is an aspiration. From my hopes came an aspiration. I no longer wanted to be millionaire. I wanted to be a different kind of “rich” man. I wanted to be a strong man who could give back to his community. I wanted to become an educator. I have a strong desire to become a teacher to teach the children who come after to me how to become a successful man without all the attitudes and pressures of the world. My parents always taught me from the bible. One lesson always stands out, “when I was a child I thought as one and when I became a man, I put away childish things.” The time has come for me to plan a way to achieve this aspiration. Goals have to be made and

Former successful Olympian, Gail Devers, once said “Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication” (Gail Devers, Brainy Quotes). Dever’s words resonate as she inspires those who usually let obstacles keep them from chasing their dreams. As children with an overactive imagination, nothing seems out of reach. Somehow, as we grow older, we begin to notice our strengths and weaknesses and we end up letting go of our old dreams and moving on. Growing up, I fanaticized over what I would do as an adult. Those fantasies ranged from a world-famous pop star to President of the United States. Through all those times of make-believe speeches and singing into a hairbrush, one of my…

Everybody designs goals in their lives, some you pursue, others you commence and something happens or you grow unenthusiastic and by no means complete. Then additional goals appear so far fetched you deem there is no feasible means that you will ever accomplish them, as a result you in no way get underway with it. This happens to many of us at different times in our lives. The only way that one will learn to set goals that they plan to accomplish is to actually start the goal and finish it. However, one must feel a purpose for setting forth to accomplish their goals. Without purpose no one will ever accomplish what they design for their future.…

If we want to reach our dreams, we have to remember to be realistic. One thing the majority of people do in order to visualize the path to their dreams is they set goals for themselves whether it’s a career goal or some other lifetime goal. Setting goals has proven to be very effective but we also have to realize that our dreams won’t be achieved easily. We have to remember that just because we want something bad enough doesn’t mean we’ve made it happen yet. It’s just a goal until we finally bring those ideas and goals to full fruition. In the essay titled “Turn a Wish Into a Triumph”, Joel Wade discusses how when we picture ourselves with our goals achieved, we begin to falsely believe that we have actually achieved them. Then we begin to lose our drive.…

    Art Therapy Goals

Jeff Rich once said, “A goal without a plan is just a wish.” That is something I like to keep in mind every day. It reminds me to never get off track and to be consistent with my ambitions. Although I have many things I would like to achieve, whether it is short term or long term, I have one main goal. I took a course in Leadership last year that helped me realize how important having a goal is. On the first day of class, my teacher went around the room asking everyone where they saw themselves in 10 years. Most gave simple answers like “to have a job” or “to be happy.” Then my teacher asked how and what is going to get you to have a job or be happy. From that day on, my teacher constantly reiterated that if we want something to happen, we have to make it as specific as possible. We cannot just sit around and wait for it to come to us. We need to make a detailed goal and do everything we can to accomplish it. My goal is to become an art therapist within those next 10 years.…
