My firsy day in school
My First Day at School:

A school is place of learning for a child. It is a training ground for him. Here every child forms new associates, comes in contact with boys & girls of different temperaments and forms new ideas and habits. It is here that she prepares herself for the stage of life. So the right type of educational school is for great importance for her.

I was enrolled in AVM Matriculation Higher Secondary school at the age of four. The memory of my first day in school is still fresh in my mind. It was a very popular and big school with many rooms. There were a lot of teachers including the physical instructor. The Principal’s office was separate. The school had a compound with big trees, lush green lawns and flowers bedded.

My father took me to the Correspondent’s office and got me admitted in the school. The Correspondent Ma’am gave me a toffee and wished me good luck. I thanked her and came out. I saw a number of new boys and girls waiting in the corridor. They were all like me in the school for the first time. I was then taken to a classroom.

My class teacher was very gentle. She encouraged me and treated me kindly. I felt a bit nervous in the new environment. The girls and boys looked at me with wonder and smiled. I had with me Tamil primer and got my first lesson in alphabets. The bell for interval rang. The girls and boys rushed out of the classrooms. Some of them gathered round me. They laughed at me and made fun of me. A few sympathized with me and befriended me. I had a novel experience.

The last bell went at twelve noon. All the girls and boys felt very happy. I also took my bag and hurried out to see my father.

I saw my father standing outside with chocolate ice-cream my favourite and then I happily reached my home and shared my first day experience with my parents.

So this was my first day school and I am very pleased in recalling that day.

I'm six years old, and I'm secretly watching the girls in my class loudly chatting in the corner of the classroom. It's 2008, and I'm quietly sitting on my desk, wondering to myself: "Am I not important enough for a simple goodbye?". I nervously shift on the chair, impatiently waiting for the minutes to tick by. My red sweater is itching against my throat. The teacher came in and we begin class as usual. Ms. Claudia is talking about our final reflections…

I walked into the classroom to see all my new pupils, I was nervous at first but then Miss Maudie introduced me to the class and everything was fine. I wrote my name on the board and told them what it said and where I am from. The class just murmured back to me. I started the day by reading the children a story about cats, I think they liked it but then again some of them did seem immune to imaginative literature. After reading I went to the blackboard and printed the alphabet in large capitals. I wasn’t surprised that everyone knew what they were seeing as most of the first grade had failed last year and where now back again for me to teach them.…

It was the first day back at school for a new year. Many of us still longed to be on holiday, carefree and careless. It showed on our faces as we grumpily and wearily made our way along the corridors to our House Room. This year our form (11) had a new student. When we walked in we all just looked at him, scrutinizing, mentally noting anything unusual. There was something about him though, but I couldn't quite see it. Nobody interacted with him at first - the teachers were all around him, then he was set free, for us students to talk with him, I didn't talk to him myself, rather I just listened to the questions of others, which, he answered them faintly. They ask him questions to get him talking, to get him relaxed, but he simply answered the questions and nothing more. Soon the interest wore off and he was left all alone.…

Have you ever experience a moment where you have no idea where you are, and what you would have done in that particular moment? Well I have, and here is my story. It all started in late August of 2009, when millions of children across the country were looking forward to their first day of school. For me, I was not looking forward to start my first year of High School. I still had the middle school mentality. I was concerned that I was not ready for high school. I felt lost, confused, and anxious to this change.…

I avoided making eye contact with her, just reminiscing on my sister's final request.”Myasia listen you don't have to talk to me but talk to someone” she suggested. My first day of school in a new country was extremely nervous but full of surprises. Forest Hills was the name of the school, it is resting at the top of one of the highest hills in the area, and housed in a Georgian brick building with a prominent white tower. I was brought in by my mom and my aunt. My aunt speaks a little bit of English and she helped my mother took care of registration and a plethora of things you have to manage as a new student. After all the hassles of registration were completed, my mother and aunt departed for home and I was left by myself to attend class. I was told to sit and wait, but couldn’t understand any of the other words the lady from the office said to me. I couldn’t tell whether it’s my nervousness or the school heating was too strong, my head started sweating. I couldn’t know what to do, should I keep sitting here? Or Should I go ask the lady again for help. Just as I was going to stand up, an Asian girl came up to me and started introduce herself in Mandarin:” Hi, my name is Jessica, are you the new student?” I felt like caught a tree while drowning, and was so happy that finally someone speaks the same language as I do. “Yes, Yes!” I shouted. Jessica had very long and straight hair, dark and had few high lights at the bottom, she was at my height, but very skinny. She only had short sleeve polo on and a pair of wide leg jeans. And I looked at myself, heavy chunky sweater and a legging inside of my jeans,” no wonder I am all sweaty” I thought. “We will be in the same class this period, come…

My family had just moved to the area and today would be my first day at Miller Grove High school. I was shaking in my boots because knowing today would make-or-break me. As the door began to open the voices of my future classmates flooding over into the hallway. I stepped slow into the room trying not to catch the attention of the class, but of course my teacher had just walked in right behind me. My eyes open in shock because now everyone’s eyes were on me even the teachers.…

As I walked down the hallway I almost urinated in my pants. I was not familiar with such atmosphere earlier. With anxiety on one hand and fear on the other, I reached for the door knob, opening it slowly. Everyone’s eyes were on me as I entered the room. From a distance, it looked like the people were ants. Without paying attention to them, I went straight to the teacher and asked if this was the right class. With a soft voice he answered, “Yes.” His voice comforted me a little. The class teacher asked my name and whereabouts. My class teacher was very gentle. He encouraged me and treated me kindly. I felt a bit nervous in the new environment. The boys looked at me with wonder and smiled. Some of them gathered rounded me. They laughed at me and made fun of me. A few sympathized with me and befriended me. The bell for interval rang. At first, I was not able to understand why there were so many teachers. The class teacher left our class and another teacher came. The teacher wrote some words on the blackboard. He taught simple arithmetic’s. Then the bell rang. Another class began.…
