The Genre: You’re familiar with the book and movie reviews that appear in newspapers, magazines, and websites. They are just one kind of evaluative writing, but from them we can identify the key components of the genre. First, there is the object to be evaluated. Often this is a single thing—a music CD, a scholarly study, a corporation—but it can also be an idea or process: the impact of a particular band on rock history, the importance of a new trend in scholarly opinion, or the management practices used by a particular sector of industry. Second, there are the criteria…

At the classes, now we were starting to get homework and get lots of information flowing through our brains. So for about three weeks we always had homework and or we had to get more information. I was curious as to how Samuel Johnson made his artwork look so unique. I think it is interesting how he fire his work and lets the wood and melting ashes make his surfaces have irregular textures. I like how Samuel Johnson’s work is simple shapes with a natural rustic look. I like how he doesn’t try to make his work look perfectly smooth or painted evenly. I love they way he stains them so the stain just drips down the sides and leaves an uneven texture in images 1 and 2. I like the precise detail he has around the tops of images 1 and 2. Issues such as lack of proper education, dead-end minimum wage jobs, unsanitary living conditions, and unfair labor practices can have a detrimental impact on the health condition of individuals in a community. Newcomers or recent immigrants in Canada do not always get the job that they desire and many end up doing odd jobs barely able to meet basic needs. In that case proper health and wellness would become the least of their priorities. As society and as a nation we must strive to correct all the inequities such as job opportunities, access to affordable high-quality education, and overall activities and programs that help integrate immigrants into mainstream Canadian society.…
