my first day at the university sample
MY FIRST DAY AT UPSA

My University is professional business institute is widely recognized all over the country and beyond.it started as a private institution and was later taken over by government. University Of Professional has been my first choice because I believe that it has the ability to provide me with quality education.

I got up early that morning due to an improper sleep during the previous night. It was due to the anxiety to start fresh with my new life. I was determined to be the best in whatever it is that I do, so that I would have something to be proud of in the pages of my life. Due to the fear of reaching late during my first day, I reached one hour earlier than necessary and decided to spend some time at Just Snacks, which is a snack shop located at the ground floor of the UPSA’s main lecture block. I was hoping that time would move a lot faster because I wanted to find out about what was going to happen next. But it is a common fact that if we are anxiously waiting for something, time would seem to crawl a lot slower. When it was finally the time to go to the lecture hall, I hoped for everything to go on smoothly, just as how I expected it. I braced myself and asked one of the students where to locate my lecture hall which is numbered LBC 306, After being instructed on which room to go to, I started walking towards the class, the mixture of excitement and nervousness start to fill within me. I started to feel like class one pupil all over again where I was a little kid who didn’t know where to go. I didn’t know anyone in the class except for Jay Gartey, who is my childhood friend.

A confident teacher entered our lecture Hall. Mrs. Abui Akrobotu was our teacher for the day, she was going to be our Communication Skills lecturer and she seemed to be a very competent one. She smartly introduced herself to us and then requested all of us to say a few things about ourselves.

I was fully optimistic that the day would go well, but it did not fall in the plan that I believed it would. It was the same routine in a new environment. My first day at Larned High School started like every first day before me. The principal, Mr. Langdon, gathered all the students and welcomed us into a new school year. The speech as long but informational. It was a familiar speech that I had heard every first day of school. Unfortunately, this familiarity would end, and now I was stuck roaming the halls in a new school looking for my first class.…

I dreaded the alarm that woke me up at 6:30 in the morning. It was as loud as a screaming toddler that could be heard for miles. I groggily got out of bed and got ready for my first day of school. It was a weird feeling not putting on a uniform like I had been for the past nine years, but I also enjoyed that freedom. The nervousness became more and more intense as I could closer and closer to campus. When we arrived, I got out of the car, and watched my dad drive off to go take my younger sister to school. There was no going back now; I had no other choice than to walk through those doors. I felt like my throat was in my stomach. I noticed some familiar faces, and I walked towards them. While I was approaching my friends, a senior, facing toward me, walked passed. He must have been at least six feet tall, which was incredibly intimidating for me at just over five feet. I was not used to the fact that I’d potentially have classes with these giants. Additionally, the array of new teachers, and having to learn all of their teaching styles and things they did or did not tolerate was hard in…

In the first year of college, I had to face many new things. I felt nervous and a little excited. I thought, “ it’s my first semester of college in America, try being open-minded.” I imagined many bad and good situations, and how to deal with them because I thought it would relieve my perturbation, but it was not. I was getting more afraid and more nervous. I kept struggling with those thoughts for a whole first semester. Walking through the class’s door, with people speaking a new language, I saw people greeting, talking, having fun… They looked excited and happy. In opposition, I sat alone in the…

College is like an unopened book with no title; you haven’t the slightest clue as to what’s to come, but you know you’re going to learn something new. I remember stepping into my first college class. I was filled with terror not knowing whom to expect in my class. As I walked in and looked around, I saw about twenty other people scattered about the room staring directly at me. I tried not to make eye contact with anybody, so I walked straight to an empty desk in the back and sat down. About twenty-five minutes after the professor began his lesson I had become drowsy and about to fall asleep. I tried to stay up but couldn’t resist. I awoke thirty minutes later to the ringing of the dismissal bell. The class was over, and I had felt horrible knowing nothing about what the class just learned. College can be a pretty tough place to get through, so know how to survive.…

The transition from high school to college in itself is a frightening experience in some way for everyone whether it be moving away from home or the vastness of a college campus others learn from these new experiences. Many very important lessons are learned outside the classroom in college but there is also so much to be learned about who you are in the classroom as well. When someone first sees Composition I on their schedule the first day of college they might think that this class is going to be tedious, boring, and nothing but writing essays, after a few class periods though they will begin to realize that this class is much more than that. Composition one from my perspective was like dipping your toes into water to test and see if you are ready to go in or not, the water may be too warm or cold at first but that is no reason to shy away from it, if they jump right in they will find that the positives far outweigh the negatives.…

Every student of college, in his life, at certain point, dreams about his university life. It is the dream of every student to get admission in a university of high esteem. A university with full colors of life makes a bigger share in good memories. I also thought about the same thing. After I had done my Fsc exams, I appeared in entrance tests of different universities. I got admission in few of them and my final decision was for Air University for its emerging repute. So after admission procedure I was called for orientation on 3rd of September. I made arrangement for a hostel with my school friend who also got admission in the same institute. We reached Islamabad on the 2nd September. Next day we woke up early in the morning at 8am and prepared for the orientation. The University was located near Shaheen Chowk in Islamabad. It was a state of the art structure. Its first glimpse was fascinating. We were directed to main hall by well mannered staff of university. Before entering the hall we were provided student ID cards that showed us the efficiency of their staff. Orientation started on scheduled time. In the beginning we were addressed about academic years and some semester related terms. After that we were explained in detail about the rules and regulations that were to be strictly followed within the premises of the university. We found that the university was very strict about discipline and that the ones not abiding by the rules were to face the music. Followed by this was a detailed presentation given to us about the academic structure and administrative measures of university by our Head of Department, Mr. Dr. Basharat ullah Malik. He altered his way of speech and took the discussion towards a lighter side by cracking some decent jokes. Then we were informed about our class rooms and labs. We were gathered for an introductory trip. We were satisfied after the introductory session about the university. After that we were…

College is extremely different from high school – creating new friends, dealing with more school work, and being responsible. In some ways it can be a good thing but it can be a frightful thing as well. It is one of the biggest challenges most teenagers will encounter to be successful in life. After all those four years of high school, it is now the time to join the ranks of the high school graduates who have chosen to achieve a higher education. Some might think it is very exciting while others might have a different opinion about it. Regardless of how they feel, being able to attend college is the primary step to the real world. As what Jason Rich, author of The Everything College Survival Book, has mentioned, “This is the time when you are making that life transition from living at home with your parents to becoming an adult.” It is most likely that these intimidating words will haunt a high school graduate’s mind until the first day of college. Still, there are plenty of ways to deal with the hardships a student may face while walking into college the first time.…

There I was, sitting in the middle of the class looked upon by every single student in the entire room. I had a feeling of total awkwardness and embarrassment, and my mind went totally blank. There, like a terrible dream I never thought would come to pass, as time went by like a broken hourglass. I stared, as if I had seen the future through my eyes, as the teacher stared right back at me with her look of despise. She knew deep inside that I was unaware of her dialogue, yet she simply waited in silence for my response. Words began to spiral in my head as I searched for the one phrase that would satisfy my instructor. I threw a quick glance at the other students, and watched as they snickered and babbled off to their friends in a dialect that confused me. I heard myself mutter, “I don’t understand,” each word gradually rolling off my tongue. Awkward silence.…

As a fourteen-year old actress in Los Angeles, California I was thinking that coming to a performing arts school all the way in Ohio, didn’t sound so great. I had been in movies and television. Why would I need to attend the College-Conservatory of Music at University of Cincinnati (CCM)? I was going into the Prep program which was for children from the ages of 4-18 before they started the actual college. I was going to attend there for Acting and Musical Theatre, but I already had all of this experience and wisdom. What could I possibly learn here? Furthermore, I was afraid that coming from LA, I wouldn’t know anyone because I thought everyone there had spent most of their lives participating in this camp with each other. What would they think of me coming in to this program as an outsider? Would they accept me, or as I feared, would they judge me? My first day there was the beginning of the most incredible experience of my life.…
