My Favorite Sport: My Favorite Sport Is Running Track
Do you have a favorite sport? My favorite sport is running track. The reason why it’s my favorite sport is because I love running. Running takes my mind off of things like my mind goes blank of all the crap that is going on I only think about the miles I run and how fast I run them. I started running when I was in 9th grade because I broke my wrist in collar bone. We were doing this tuck and roll exercise and I did it right the first time but the second time I didn’t roll and hit my collar bone on concrete and weights it shattered it into three pieces. Because of that I couldn’t play any sports besides track. When I first started running I had the mind set of “oh I got this” because I was a varsity wide receiver for football my freshman …show more content…
I lived in Branson, Mo so I would always get the workout I needed for my events. My coach’s would envy that I did that to become a better runner. One coach in particular was really proud of me for that and his name is Coach Blackwell. He and I would always go running after school and he would get mad because I would always out run him. So a month later came the competing part of track I remember my first track meet like it was yesterday. It was a clear day very warm, the stands filled with excited mom’s and dad’s and the runners siblings and their friends. The first event was the 100m dash my best friend Chastin Jolley was in that race. He was so nervous about the race but I knew he would do great because I would see him run circles around the people he raced with at practice. He ended up beating the other runners. It seemed like forever but they called my event the 4X800m. All of the runners for my school who were participating in that race were all giving everyone confident boost telling each other “We got this” or “You’ll do great”. The first runner who was up was James Quinlin he was the starter he gave us a huge lead on the race, next was Anthony Larson he kept up the winning pace, Then it was Micah Daniels he also kept up the lead, Finally came my turn the Anchor, The Anchor has the most

At 7:25am, I arrived at practice and was quickly spotted by the coach. He called me over and said, "You're a big, fast guy, and I want you to be a sprinter." I knew I was fast, but I thought that being 6'1 and 225 pounds, I would be considered overweight to be a sprinter. As the week went on, I qualified for the 200 meters in the Sophomore Invitational, which I ended up placing third in. After finishing the race, I felt energized, and my coach recognized my potential to be a 400 meter runner.…

It took some time, but eventually running became such a big part of my life that I felt incomplete when I didn’t do it. And it’s not just the benefits of running that I enjoy, although there are many. I’ve lost weight. My blood pressure is down. My energy level is up. I look better. I feel better. I sleep better. But on top of all that, I actually love getting out and running. It’s a great excuse to get outside (or into the gym if that’s your preference), listen to music, or just enjoy the…

In 2008, I was a eight year old and, regrettably, a member of the Saint Joseph Cross Country team. I consistently finished in the last five runners, and despised every moment that I spent training for the race season. Even though I began running cross country in elementary school, I was never a natural. After years, I was allowed to quit. By the time I was a freshman in high school, I had forgotten my hatred of running. After much enticement from my mother - a runner herself - I joined Bowling Green High School’s Cross Country team. Halfway through the first practice, I remembered every reason why I had quit the sport years earlier. Regardless of how much I begged my mom, she insisted that I finish the season. I was stuck with two choices:…

I have been running since I started Modified Track and Field in the seventh grade. Running has been a part of my life ever since then. When I decided to join track I felt as though it was the worst mistake that I could have ever made, simply because i did not like running as a child. After trying it for the first year and not giving up I enjoyed it very much and that is when I stated that I would continue to run track till I graduated high school. Then came ninth grade and not only did I continue to do Outdoor Track but I also joined Indoor Track and it helped me improve with my running for Outdoor Track. When I first began my running career, I saw little hope in becoming a good runner. It wasn’t until after cross country ended that I was told by my coach,”You have all the tools available to you, now use them.” At the time I didn’t understand what he meant, but when I finally understood it I used it as a motivator to push myself farther and farther. The support of my coaches coupled with the encouragement given by my teammates gave a me an even larger boost in confidence. Before my first relay I clearly remember hearing my teammates telling me not to undermine my ability by thinking about my injury. In that relay I ran the second fastest leg, a major step in the right direction. After that meet I began to see a major improvement over the previous track season, and with that knowledge I have put it to heart and began the climb to…

For the past six years of my life, I ran for the Eureka Springs High School cross country team. After graduation, I was given the opportunity to run for the Golden Suns cross country team at Arkansas Tech University. In a matter of six months, my cross country experiences and habits were changed. Often times, there are similarities between two subjects such as these, but in this case, only the differences are obvious. There are changes in not only the way that I run, but the team I ran with, the coach I ran under, and the person I am when I run. These changes have caused me to see what I can do as a runner and a college student.…
