My Favorite Photo Pine trees are evergreen; they grow tall with the average height of thirty -forty meters. Each pine tree has very unique poses: some grow straight, fall more to the left or tilt more to the right. One tree has at least seven major braches; moreover, each branch is covered by the thickness green color of the leaves. The leaves are very pointy and sharp as needles. The smell of pine gives you the touch of relaxation from nature. Pine trees grow as a group, as if they were a united family that could never be separated. It literally fills up the whole forest, and paints a beautiful picture of nature. I was lucky enough to born in the town that pine trees were proudly chosen to be the symbol of the town. Pine trees bring the memories within me back to my family and the family picture that was taken at the jungle of “ Valley of Love”. Dalat is a beautiful town up in the mountain of Vietnam; The city has many other names such as: city with thousands of pine trees, city of flowers, hidden city behind the fog, and the city of love. Dalat is considered as a tourist trap based on its location: many beautiful waterfalls, wild pine trees jungles surrounding the town, and gardens of flowers. Oh! How I can describe the beauty of my hometown. And this is where the story of my family begins: I don’t know what have brought my father, a music student from the far land of North Vietnam, to come to this cold and sweet city. My mom, an elementary teacher, is a daughter of a native couple from this wilderness land. My parents met through a music contest of the school board, then their first date was at the “Valley of Love”. As my parents fell deeply in love with each other’s; the rejection from my mom’s family grew stronger. Despite of how difficult their lives were, troubles of society did not stop the love that had for one another. Just easy as things might have seem, they pledged: “I do!” on a sunny day of July, under the pine trees maze of Valley of Love.

The medium used to construct this artwork is oil paint. This artwork shows a pine tree which seems to be in the forest or near many other trees. About half of the pine tree has less leaves than the other half of the pine tree. This must be what the name of the artwork is talking about which has something to do with the time “Five O’Clock”. The pine tree to the right of the centered pine tree seems to full compared to the center tree. The tree is asymmetrical due to the amount of leaves on one side as opposed to the leaves on the other side. Similar to the artwork Buffalo Hunter, the form of art is fine art because this is an oil painting on a canvas. I believe the content of this artwork relates to the growth of the tree in relation to time that has passed. And also similar to the painting Buffalo Hunter, this painting is two-dimensional because it is on a…

Not only do these trees symbolize the people in the story, they symbolize how the trees and the Great Men of the Colony are rotting from the inside out. When one of these trees is getting cut down, the person is slowly dying, and then when the tree falls they automatically fall dead as well. These trees act as a gravestone because of the names carved on them, and how they are scattered throughout like a graveyard. The fact that these trees are dark and gloomy also helps you think of a gravestone in a graveyard.…

The forest symbolizes doubt. Physically the forest is mysterious, dark and suspicious. G.K. Chesterton uses alliteration to describe the physical qualities of the forest. For example, he uses the phrase “chaos of chiaroscuro” to portray the “patterns of sun and shade.” The forest is dark in some spots and dazzling in others with shadows overlapping. Within the forest there are strange animals and insects roaming the woods. The symbolic meaning of these woods in G.K. Chesterton’s story is the “wood of witchery.” He uses this statement to explain the doubt one can feel in the woods and to refer to the uncertainty of what could happen next. The word witchery is used because the woods are enigmatic. One has little clue as to what could be around the corner. In the novel, Syme has an epiphany upon entering the woods and thinks “Was not everything, after all, like this bewildering woodland, this dance of dark and light? Everything only a glimpse, the glimpse always unforeseen, and always forgotten” (Chesterton 189). Syme realizes that the woods are very similar to his life. One minute he thinks he knows exactly who he is talking to in the light. Yet, in the next minute he is back in the dark because…

I’m very happy when I come back in SEC and meet you. How are you? I recently have two-week period of probation in Đa Lat. Do you know Da Lat city? Why did I go to Da Lat? Of our native trees, the white pine is one of the best and most valuable. It is a tall straight tree that grows to a height of 100 to 150 feet. It produces wood that is light in weight and easy to work because it is so soft. At ,one time there were extensive pine forests in the northeastern states. Many of the trees were very large, and occasionally one may still see pine stumps that are 5 to 6 feet in diameter. White pine made fine lumber for houses and other buildings and this timber was among the first to be exhausted in the country.…

He went back home because he didn’t find Lumnay among the dancers at his wedding. The presence of light and darkness of the house in the story tells their conversation turned to a passionate goodbye, each expressing love for each other, their speeches filled with recollection of precious memories, finding it hard to let go of one another. Little regard for her feelings and the willingness to abandon her seem to be the predominate thoughts in the author’s mind.…

As far as I can remember, I first visited Da Nang city - one of the most beautiful and dynamic cities in the central of Viet Nam - in Autumn, 2008 after passing the Entrance Examination to University. Da Nang city was quite peaceful in the early morning when I arrived. I and my cousin decided to rent a small hotel beside Han River. Now that we could spend only one day sightseeing, we decided to pay a visit to Ngu Hanh Son mountains, Cua Dai beach, Hoi An ancient town. To be specific, we started the trip to Ngu Hanh Son Mountains at 8 a.m. Along the streets out of the city, we all had a great time exploring the gorgeous sceneries. Han river came into our view as a tortuous snake. On the river, the industrial city life rose up strongly. It took us 15 minutes to arrive at Ngu Hanh Son Mountains. Frankly, it was the first time I had ever visited such a beautiful place. Then, Cua Dai beach was our next destination. Hardly can I forget the cool and windy afternoon when I together with my friends went for a stroll along the beach. Coastal life seemed simple, yet the fishermen we met on the beach that day appeared to be very friendly and helpful. They enthusiastically told us how the wind would change in a day, how the tidal waves would affect their life and how they had survived hundreds of thunderstorms. Our final destination was Hoi An ancient town, which is around 45 kilometers away from Da Nang city. I was very interested in the colorful traditional lanterns, which, I think, help to bring us back to the old days of Vietnamese villages. While sightseeing the town, we found that there were many foreign tourists in Hoi An. They were probably absorbed in the beauty of antiques. Particularly, the old town turned out to be more beautiful at night when everything was more sparkling in the candlelight.…
