My Favorite Movie
My favorite movie is Chinese Super Ninja. The movie has characters who combine fighting with a lot of gymnastics. In the movie the characters demonstrate the precision and skill it takes to use Kung Fu on an opponent. There are many clans in this movie and some have their own fighting style.

It is interesting to watch the characters combine fighting with gymnastics. In one scene the fighter did two handsprings and landed in a tree to avoid being hit. Then another fighter tumbled down from the tree striking a fighter with a kick to the chest.

In the movie, characters demonstrate Kung Fu which take a certain skill and precision to work properly. For example, in the movie the fighter must strike the temple to weaken the armor around another fighter in order to kill him. Another example is when the fighters learn to breathe properly so it locks the muscles and the body becomes invincible to blades. If not done properly, the fighter will become vulnerable.

The movie also has different clans and fighting styles. There are some small clans such as Lama, Tai Chi, Mings, and Ninja. Another clan is called the Wu Tang Clan and they're known for using the Lightening Sword Style and the Drunken Monkey. There is also a clan named Shaolin Temple who are known for using the Chinese Finger Jab, Eagle Claw, and the Iron Fist Style.

Chinese Super Ninja is my favorite because of the skill of the Martial Arts and knowing the different clans and their fighting

The Forbidden Kingdom is an American fighting movie made in 2007. Throughout the movie, the main character takes a pounding from some kids in the ghetto that believe that they should bully because they can. Then later on, that kid is transported into ancient China where he must help save a legendary figure, having help from a local man that seems like the town drunk. The man however is able to ward of many soldiers at a time while still holding his alcohol. The only one in the movie that isn't skilled at fighting is the white boy. The movie creates a good representation of the typical asian and american stereotypes and the location adds to the effect of diminishing the white culture versus the asian.…

The titular phrase “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon” comes from a Chinese philosophy that refers to keeping your strength hidden from others and warns that, because others may also be practising it, you never know when you’ll meet up with someone who is stronger and better than you are. Ang Lee presents images and reflects a crateful masterful synthesis of various forms of Chinese mythology and Taoist Philosophy. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon elaborates on partly through the use of the same fight choreographer, Yuen Wo Ping. In the scene where Jen steals the sword has a camera shot of an establishing shot, long shot, and overhead shot. It has a clicking sound and the lighting is shadowy distinctively suggesting elements of suspicion, danger and anticipation. Its lighting is insufficient to symbolise the dark side and the suspicion. Audiences are able to feel the suspense throughout the fighting scene. In Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, it has a scene which has Shu Lien and Jen order to the sword and fight with each other. In this scene, the location is in the courtyard of the house, which means it is like a chamber of secret. It represents that both of them must have one will…

The best feeling in the world is knowing that in the set three minutes you are given, the only obligation that you have is to win the fight you are about to walk into. “Eye of the Tiger” constantly plays over and over in my head and the only thing I’m making eye contact with is the opponent’s eyes. From the way that his feet are planted I already know that this will be an easy take down, I won’t need more than two minutes. The glare of the lights hits the cherry red on his gloves as I take each jab he throws in my direction. I follow up with my jabs twice as hard to his upper body; unfortunately all I’m hitting are his arms because he knows how to block, and he knows how to block well.…

The Karate Kid remake offers unparalleled acting that is far more relatable and captivating than in The Karate kid 1984 version. In the newer remake of The Karate Kid, each actor portrays their character exceptionally, creating an immediate connection with the audience. Dre Parker, who is played by Jayden Smith, is a young alienated boy from Detroit whose mother’s latest career choice lands him in China. Dre Parker is devastated because of the move, but things start to look up when he meets a girl in his neighborhood named Meiying played by Wenwen Han. Things take a turn for the worst when Dre gets jumped by a group of boys who know Karate. Jackie Chan portrays Mr. Han a maintence man who decides to teach Dre karate so that he may defend himself against these boys. All of the characters’ in The Karate Kid remake do an excellent job of emotionally connecting and relating to the audience. In contrast, the characters’ in the original Karate Kid lacked the same connection and intensity with the audience. Although both movies are very similar there are big differences that distinguish the two. In The Karate Kid 1984 version Daniel Larusson played by Ralph Macchio, is a teenaged boy who moves from New Jersey to California due to his mother’s new job. The storyline and theme is exactly the same as the remake, the…

One theme used to show Chinese culture is survival. For example, when Wang Lung’s family is struggling to find food, his sons steal meat, and they defend themselves by saying, “I took it – it is mine, this meat (Buck 112).” When it is hard to survive it can make a person do something that they wouldn’t normally do. Survival not only changes a person, but it also changes their outlook on life. While O-Lan was giving birth to another child Wang Lung is thinking, “Male or female it mattered nothing to him now – there was only another mouth coming which must be fed (Buck 81).” Trying to survive took Wang Lung’s excitement and turned it into worry. Pearl Buck is trying to show that if people are trying to survive that they will do anything possible.…

Have you ever turned on the TV and watched UFC or some other cage fight? Most of you are thinking that it is nothing more than a bunch of brutes fighting for money. The fact is there is some skill involved in it. This is known as Mixed Martial Arts or MMA for short. According to Andre Herbert, “MMA is using the most effective techniques of various martial arts so that they complement each other perfectly.” Some of these styles use striking (kicking and punching) and grappling (grabbing, lifting) techniques. The styles used in MMA are pretty diverse. There is Muay Thai, which is a form of martial arts that originated in Thailand, which uses hands, elbows, knees, shins and feet for striking purposes. They also have Boxing, which is used for the punching combinations and footwork. Wrestling and Brazilian Ju-Jitsu are used for grappling techniques that includes takedowns, submissions, chokeholds and anything that makes you want to yell out “Uncle!” or “Mercy!”, for those of you who played those kind of games as a kid. There is also a little bit of Kung-Fu, Karate Judo and etc. influences on the styles. In this ethnography, I will discuss how MMA is more than just a combination of different fighting systems; it is also a discourse community, in other words according to John Swales, it is a made up of individuals who share “a broadly agreed upon set of common public goals”.…

For the last seven years mixed martial arts has exploded in the United States. For people that are still unfamiliar with the term mixed martial arts or (MMA), this would be the sport featured in such venues as the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Pride Fighting Championship, and M-1 Global. MMA is the essence of many various martial arts. These forms of martial arts come from all over the globe. A majority of these forms of fighting were closely guarded secrets and kept hidden from the rest of the world. In a MMA fight viewers will see the athletes practice Muay Thai from Thailand, Brazilian Ju-Jitsu from Brazil, Judo from Japan, Wrestling from America, and many other martial arts. This was very different from karate, not only did this style require more discipline; it taught me new ways to move. As I grew in this particular style my trainer told me I was very talented. Knowing my instructor had faith in me, I told him I wanted to fight professionally. He told me I could not do that until I was eighteen. The thought of me losing a fight back then gave me the motivation to keep going. When I turned eighteen my skills and maturity level had increased beyond normal limitations. I got my first professional fight and I am very nervous. A lot of doubt is going through my head what if I lose, what if I get killed, and what if I embarrass myself. When I was standing in the middle of the octagon, waiting for the referee to announce the fight, all the memories came back, to daycare. That is when I told myself I will not lose ever again. So the fight was going to have three five minute rounds. During the first round we approached each other and started fighting. I threw a few punches and he threw a few punches. After two minutes in the round I faked him out and threw a right kick, kicking him in the head. My first win was by a knockout.…
