My Favorite Magazine (The Viewspaper)

The Viewspaper is my favourite magazine. It is a weekly. It prints reviews of political and social events; notes on education and literature and a few items of fiction and poetry, every week. The first remarkable thing about this magazine is its get-up. The cover design is always beautiful and attractive. It is printed on very good paper. The articles are illustrated. The font is large and easy to read. The first section of the Views paper reviews the national and international events. The editor comments on every important news of the week. He explains every aspect of the news. He tells the readers the background story of every event in detail. This is one of the reasons I like this magazine. The editor does not try to impose his opinions on the readers. He analyses the events unbiasedly. He gives the readers all the relevant information. You are free to draw your conclusions. This magazine is not aligned to any political party. Its policy is free, transparent and independent. It looks upon everything from the national point of view. It has separate sections on Arts, Literature, Education, Science and Sports.

The Art section contains articles on Painting, Architecture and Music. These articles are Interesting and Informative. They are written in a simple and easy language. The literary section has a critical essay, a short story and a poem. These are written by famous authors. The most valuable feature of this section is the book review. In the Education section, the problems of teachers and students are discussed. The articles are written by people who are actively engaged in teaching. Naturally they have better knowledge of educational problems. The Sport section contains useful and interesting features on games and players . The questions of the readers are answered every week. Another popular section of the magazine is the Film section. It does not publish vulgar and sensational news about the personal lives of film

The plot of "The Playboy" has its origin in a story Synge heard about a man who did kill his father with a spade and, helped by the people of Inishmaan, escaped to America. Synge was taken by this story; from his own research in the West of Ireland, the part of the country that still retained the most of the old Gaelic culture, he was able to incorporate some sense of the loneliness of life there, along with the rebellious temperament of their people. If they were willing to shelter a murderer from the law, remember that for them "the law" was enforced by a conquering nation! They did not have complete respect for the British police. But of course, they also didn't have a realistic political alternative.…

Magazine Research and Review For this paper I chose to compare Time Magazine for the News, Discover Magazine for the research-journal, and Mens Health for the health-related. First, I will be comparing the percentage of advertisements verses editorial copy, who the ads are aimed at, as well as how they are portrayed. Second, the number of males compared to females portrayed in pictures, number of people in ethnic groups, and lastly the number of writers with male names compared to female names along with more details. First I will talk about the percentage of advertisements compared to editorial copy in each magazine. After looking through all of the magazines, Mens Health ended up having the most advertisements. With an estimate around thirty percent editorial copy and seventy percent advertisements a big majority of the magazine was ad content. Most of these advertisements were full page and visually compelling. What I mean be visually compelling is that all the people portrayed in the ads were good looking, perhaps nearly perfect looking models. Along with the good looking models, if there was a product being promoted, that product was modeled perfectly with the design of the page. Because this is a “mens magazine” pretty much all the advertisements were aimed at men, I'm guessing adults around the age of twenty one to fifty. Next for the news magazine I chose Time Magazine. Time, compared to Mens Health had much more editorial copy, with around eighty five percent editorial and fifteen percent advertisement. The advertisements in Time Magazine were a little different to Mens Health in that they were not as visually compelling in my opinion. There was a mix of full page ads and ads mixed in with articles. Although Time has much less advertisements, the ads were not as enjoyable, (this could partly be because they are not aimed at me). Which leads to the next part of this comparison. I would guess that the advertisements in Time are aimed more towards adults with…

Looking at the magazine, we can observe a continuous alteration between monthly, constant and regular appointments, and other articles, which are directed to impress the reader. These articles, concerning various topics, but they are always focused on issues that represent the ‘assets’ of the magazine. J-14 Magazine Analysis

    • 1615 Words
    • 7 Pages

Nowadays many magazines gossip about the supposedly exciting lives of famous people, and J-14 is one of those. The particularity of this magazine is that it is completely targeted for teenagers between 12 and 15 years. J-14’s articles and images are full of topics related to beauty, fashion, and love; the magazine is completely oriented for girls, superficial, and does not typically touch on or contribute to any relevant topic in society. A person with a mature criteria and education can realize easily that J-14 is not giving teenagers much useful learning; contrarily, the magazine is forming false and non-caring teenagers who only care about their image and for pretending that they are older. Ultimately, the magazine J-14 can be characterized…

    Female Magazine

I read a magazine call “GL” which stands for girl’s life. It is focus on teens, and it is one of the popular teen magazines for female. Of course, the pop star “Justin Biber” was on the cover which caught my eyes. In the magazine, the question of today was “Are you cheating on your boyfriend?” wasn’t too proper for teen to start off. The advertisement weren’t bad; they were mostly movies, and clothing. The articles were somewhat positive and negative. There was article about “100 ways to look cute”, and I was standing there thinking “That’s a lot”. They were teaching how to look “flirty” which I have no idea how. It was just terrible article about putting make up on; I don’t believe teens need to look flirty to anybody. There was another article about spring trends for under $20 which wasn’t so bad, it gave pretty good cloth to wear, I thought it was good, because girls tend to want expensive stuff. Another article was “Make Him Yours” it was just awful; it was real guy telling them how to approach, and what not to do. Honestly, teens don’t need to learn how to flirt with guy, first of all; article was just useless, “look at him with your new make up on” is not what teens have to learn. One of the positive article was about “10 ways to prepare for your period”. I am not sure it was right ways since I’m a guy. However, if the content is right, girls need to know how to prepare for them, how to treat them right, so I thought it was educating. Also, there was article call “I feel fat” which was for teen who think they are fat. They gave solutions for it, and some advice. It was surprisingly helpful, and it gave some good solutions, such as like a fun spring workout. However, I have no idea why they gave worse dresser for Jennifer Stone who is little chubby, and gave best dresser to Emma Robert who is skinny. They both looked fine to me, but I thought it would lower some “girls” self-esteem, because they are little bigger…
