In Janelle Monáe’s “Hell You Talmbout” she talks about people living in poverty. She first starts with the first verse saying that in poverty there is a lot of violence, from bombs being thrown, guns being pulled out, and a body lying on the streets from police brutality. In the chorus she repeats “Now what the hell you talking ‘bout?” this could be seen as Janelle speaking to an outsider who does not see all the violence and poverty, while those who live in those conditions experience it every day. In the second verse, Janelle addresses the topic of how fast drugs are traveling in poverty and how they are stealing from one another to get money for drugs. In the line “the poor man eats off of the rich men’s dollar,” Janelle refers to how many…

Shameless is a show based in chicago which is kind of weird knowing how bad chicago is with all the crime that’s going on and the high murder rate but then again Lancaster hasn't been the safest of cities in the u.s either. Well shameless is about a dysfunctional family who struggles with life every single day, and every day there seems to be a new problem that occurs. Even though the main characters happen to have their own set of problems they always value family first and remain loyal to each other while I watch their family acting how they are it made me appreciate my family because we can be so many things but at least we're not crazy like the gallagher family. The main characters in the show consists of the gallagher family, Frank , Fiona , Lip , Ian , Carl , Debby , Liam and other supporting characters like Mickey and Karen. my personal favorite on the show is lip because he’s the cool brother who gets good grades and all the hot chicks he is sorta like me but I get bad grades well I did in high school. On a serious note this show made me feel every…

In economics, a compensatory test is applied for “evaluating public policy choices” (Kenyon 258). The test compares existing policies to suggested policies and the suggestion is only accepted if the prospective gainers can compensate prospective losers without leaving any individual worse off (Chipman). So, what if this test were used to evaluate “policies involving the gain or loss of human life” (Kenyon 258)? In such a scenario, it may be proposed that society could only continue to benefit because the selected policies would only be those that positively advanced society. In modern America, this method has not yet been successfully applied to social law, which leaves the country in parasitic, state. While the term “parasite” may seem to…
