My Experience as a Writer
My Experience as a Writer

It all started when I was just a little kid. I began learning how to speak and use our language. I watched learning videos teaching me how to talk properly and use different words. Once I reached first grade, we began writing very simple sentences and learning the basics of writing. By the time I reached Elementary school, we learned about the sentence structure and we began making more complex sentences. We also started writing paragraphs and short essays. When I reached Middle school, we began writing longer essays and we learned how to write in more detail. We started learning more advanced vocabulary and different styles of writing. We learned mostly about fiction, non-fiction, and persuasive essays. In my freshman and sophomore year in high school, we discussed the other types of writing such as poetry, persuasive essays, letters, opinion papers, and speeches. We wrote an exceptional amount of poetry and opinion essays last year in literature. Now I am beginning my junior year in high school and we are writing very long essays that are more descriptive. We are going to learn about rhetorical strategies and techniques. We will also learn more about expository and analytical writing. This is the very long process that I have gone through to become the writer that I am today. Now I will discuss my growth and experience as a writer. I have read many fiction stories through my school years. I don’t like reading many fiction stories but when I was in Middle school I read the Goosebumps series. I enjoyed reading these books because they were exciting and unpredictable. When I started reading a Goosebumps book, I would read until midnight. Sometimes I would finish the book in one day. I wish I was able to write a good fiction story but I’m not very creative so I struggle with that type of writing. I don’t have much experience writing fiction stories because I haven’t had to write that many fiction stories in school. I love reading good

I am writing this quick letter to introduce myself and tell you a bit about my accomplishments and aspirations as a writer. I won't say that writing is in my blood or my genes or anything like that, but I will say that I do have an insatiable urge to write. I cannot say, but I definitely feel that writing is a passion of mine that I greatly enjoy. It is an urge that can only be satisfied and, even then, only temporarily, by stringing words together into a narrative. Ultimately, I greatly enjoy writing, although I do not consider myself to be stellar at it; I would call it a passion more than anything else.…

Starting kindergarten I finally compose sentences though spelling was no my forte. Throughout elementary and middle school my writing improved because now I finally knew what the parts of speech were and the grammar rules that go along with writing. Grammar and parts of speech took a lot of practice and we reviewed almost every year. During those years I mainly learned the basics and the structure for writing.…

Everyday people learn how to be a better English writer and it is successful because mostly everyone in the United States speaks English. In my experience, I’m learning how to become a better English writer everyday by reading books and writing essays. I’ve taken English 60A, English 60B, and now I’m taking English 50. Writing essays and reading article’s in English 50 helps me to become a stronger writer. In my portfolio I am going to edit my best essay that I did in class and I am also going to revise my biggest challenged essay. Although I use speak and write in English everyday in the world, I am still learning how to become a better writer. My experience as a writer in English has grown since the first day in English by learning to use sources in an essay, how to cite properly, to write 650-1000 word essays, and to critique my classmates work.…

I used to believe I was a good writer. Throughout my elementary school education, creative writing dominated curriculum which allowed my extremely creative mindset to thrive. In middle school, I developed an elitist mentality about my writing ability. Believing that I reached my academic peak, I felt no need to sharpen my writing skills, causing me to become close minded to critique or other writing styles. Upon entering high school, I still clung to the idea that I was the best, but after my first week of class, I realized how weak my writing skills were in contrast to those of other students. Now, I am aware of my strengths and weaknesses as a writer, and hope to have come far from my middle school self.…

My writing process has evolved since the beginning of the year. Looking back at my previous essays and writing assignments over the course of the semester, I can distinctively see a gradual improvement through the different pieces of writing. Even though the differences from my early works at the beginning of the semester might not be drastic, the small improvements are what positively impacted my writing style. From the beginning of class until now, I have discovered new strengths and weaknesses, redefined my writing process, and corrected mistakes from the essays along the way.…

Throughout the year, my writing has had significant improvements, compared to where I began. First, I began this semester fairly confident in my writing abilities. I thought that I had a strong grasp on writing concepts that include: transition words, literary devices, proper grammar techniques, correct paper writing format. In contrast, I felt that I began the year with a weak vocabulary, which has always been one of my weaker areas, If I were to rank myself on day one of class, without knowing all of the material we were going to cover, I would rank my writing skills an eight out of ten.…

One thing that has shaped me to become the person writing to you today, is my level of determination to succeed. That probably sounds hollow, because everyone will say that, but let me explain my story. I am not a prideful person or a personal flag waver, so even telling this story is difficult. I cannot say what I am now without showing how I’ve been fighting my whole life to be able to call myself determined.…

Writing has seemed to be a difficult process for me over the years. This is why it was my choice to enroll myself in creative writing classes over the last 6 years. The most difficult process for me in writing is generating ideas. You can learn to use proper structures for sentences but sadly creativity is something you can learn. In my play, The Doctor and the Patient, I displayed my best writing, and it gives a good example of what I have learned in this class. “THE PATIENT: Look, man—we’re all different. Each individual can’t be typed into a group. All minds—souls, even—are different. But we all have something in common: we’re human. And it’s beautiful.” Is an allegory, often used in poetry. Due to the depressed nature of the patient, he finds something that can bring light into his world. Though he is stubborn, and rejects medicating and therapy sessions, he finds a false sense of security.…

My writing process has always been a frustrating one. I like writing, but I don't think I'm very good at it. When I was younger, I loved letting my creative side shine by writing silly stories and pretending I was Stephen King, using words that I didn't even understand. My dad read me Shel Silverstein's books of poems and and drawings. Those books inspired me so much to write and to draw and be creative on a blank sheet of paper.…

Communication is one of the most challenging skills for me. When learning this new challenging skill, I am asked to initially overcome fears against the odds, which slowly appear surmountable with the passage of time. For me the ability of communication is like building a tower, then writing skill is a part of the tower and I call it “wall brick”. In order for this tower to stand the bricks must be strong. Though flourished rhetoric in writing can enhance a paper in some aspects, I believe that a logical structure is the key to quality composition. Wring, in any language, was never appreciated by me. Thus I just had some inferior bricks at first. I kept those low-grade materials and tumbledown “tower” for a long time until I transferred to another high school where I met my wonderful teachers. I used to hate writing, but when I entered my new high school the way I write has been totally impacted and was deeply branded.…
