Learning Styles Essay

Upon completing The Learning Style Assessment, as noted in accordance to Bixler, B.( 2010) the results state I am an 41 % auditory , 27% Kinesthetic, and 27% visual. It is stated as a visual learner I require visual aids, explanations as and elicit instructions. I agree with the results of The Learning Styles Inventory to a certain degree. However, I require extended visual stimulation in order to successfully process the information provided. I remember details best by writing and revising a few times. Although I do not consider myself artistic per say; it has been said about persons with my zodiac sign Libra, that we don’t enjoy monotony. According to the “Learning Styles Assessment “, I am an auditory learner; however in my interpretation the kinesthetic category best fits the way I learn.
In a previous position I was required to assemble pieces of children’s toys quickly on a conveyor belt in a specific time limit; where the average person may have faltered immediately, I was able to complete the task with time to spare. As a kinesthetic learner having rapid hand, eye coordination helped me to excel quickly in the position. Had the training process for this position required that I watch a visual demonstration prior to the actual hands on application, it is likely that I would not have succeeded as well as I did. In accordance to the results cited by http:://www.personal.psu.edu/bxdll/LS/LS/.htm “If you are a VISUAL learner, then by all means be sure that you look at all study materials. Use charts, maps, filmstrips, notes and flashcards. Practice visualizing or picturing words/concepts in your head. Write out everything for frequent and quick visual review”. But I wholeheartedly disagree with that finding.
As stated in the (The Center for New Discoveries in Learning) “If you are a TACTILE learner, trace words

R’s learning style is mildly kinesthetic learning. R’s VARK questionnaire results were visual: 9, aural: 4, read/write: 5, kinesthetic: 14. Kinesthetic learners learn best by moving their bodies. These types of learners are often called as hyperactive as children and have good coordination, sense of timing and strong body movement. One other thing that is unique about the kinesthetic learner is that they often tap, wiggle and move their legs when they sit. Kinesthetic learners are excellent in working well with their hands. They are good at sculpting, repairing, and art works. A kinesthetic learner tends to use all their senses – touch, sight, smell, taste and hearing. They prefer to experiment, use trial and error method and also use more hands on approach for acquiring knowledge.…

I think I do better acting out how things work while I am studying or doing homework. The assessment did surprise me a little bit because I was not expecting to score high with visual, aural, and read/write. I’m also surprised that I scored Kinesthetic by a point above of visual, aural, and read/write. There are some points where I could have been a visual, aural, and read/write learner. I would like to use visual because at times when I use a graph to look at different percentages that are about many different things, it helps to look at what item is better by the percentage. Aural would help be by listening to what others say about a topic and how they feel about it. It gives me the idea on what others think and how I can follow the topic and not mess up and make a fool of myself. Read/write would help me by reading through directions and following them, or rewriting notes from a power point. I would say kinesthetic is my number one learning ability to have because of being hands-on materials and do actions while I am studying and doing…

After completing the learning style assessment, the results revealed that I am a visual learner. My score was the highest in the visual category. These are the characteristics of a visual learner: They have strong visualization skills and they can look up (often up to the left) and “see” the information invisibly written or drawn. To add, they are able to make movies in their mind about information previously read and give vivid details. They have visual spatial skills such as sizes, shapes, texture, angles, three-dimensional depths are strong. Also, they have a keen sense of the aesthetics, the beauty of physical environment visual media, or art. I learn better by seeing graph, and charts in my notes or color coding for organization of information. Certainly, these…

There are several types of learning style which include auditory, visual, and tactile. My learning style is an auditory learner which means I learn better by listening and hearing. I tend to store my information by how it sounds not looks; therefore written instruction is hard for me I rather hear my directions. People tend to think I am not paying attention but I really am hearing them and understanding better than they think. Sometimes you will find me reading out…

Life for the American woman in the 19th century was full of conflicts and struggles. My learner’s styles according to Felder, are based on me being a well-balanced active, moderate sensing, moderate visual, and moderate sequential (Felder & Soloman, n.d.). The second assessment from The Center for New Discoveries, revealed 43% Visual learner style, 43% Auditory learner style, and 14% Kinesthetic leaner style. Both assessments, leans heavily upon visual learning for me, meaning I prefer graphs, charts, pictures, or diagrams to explain concepts and theories. I tend to remember what is said based upon the analogy of the visual been shown and explained. This has worked well for me for as long as I can remember, when it comes to learning.…
