My doll that means much to me
I do not really have many objects I care about or have any feelings toward but one item that I really have a lot of feeling toward is my doll Rubi Gloom. She is the cutest little thing. I really do care a lot for her and I could not imagine how I would be without her.

One sunny, Saturday afternoon I was hanging out with my friends and we decided to go to the mall. We were walking around just walking into stores when we saw this cute, little toy store. We walked in and the first thing I saw was this cute doll. It was love at first sight. I knew I had to have this doll. Well that day we had been on a tight budget so we did not have a lot of money to buy her. We started counting all our change and all the money we could find. Finally, we counted just enough to buy Rubi. I was extremely elated. Knowing that she was mine was so splendid! She was my new best friend. She means so much to me, and ever since I bought her, I have not let her go. She comes along everywhere with me. She is my good luck charm. Whenever I feel unsure or nervous I just hold her tight and I know that she will be there for me and she will not leave me. I do not know why she makes me feel so good if she is just a small doll but I do not care. All I know is that I love Rubi. I know that as long as I'm with her nothing bad could happen to me.

Rubi is a small doll, a little smaller than the size of my hand. She has short, red hair and big, sad eyes. Her hair reminds me of a style that would be really odd if seen anywhere in the real world. It is a patted down and parted in the front red, with what looks like a roosters crown in the middle. On the sides, are pigtails, which look almost like the hair in the middle of her head. They are made into spikes to the side, which continue up the back of her head. Her hair is about shoulder length, as it is. She has one line above each eye, over the eyebrow, which really gives her the sad look that touched me the most at first. It shows a true emotion... one that would not come out with her regular eyebrows. Around her eyes is a dotted line, which brings out her big sad looking eyes. It gives more of an innocent look, in my opinion. Inside her eyes, under her pupil, are a few white spots, which show a shine in her eyes. A shine that shows happiness if all else is covered up. Rubi also has little orange freckles just above her mouth. Her socks are striped, orange, and red, her heels are big and black, and her skin is very white, as white as snow. She wears a short, black skirt and a short sleeve, black shirt. In her hands, she holds three balloons, two small ones, and a larger one. These three balloons are black and like Rubi have big, sad eyes.

I know that I will have Rubi for a very long time if not forever. I will try to make her be a part of my family. I am going to pass her down to my daughter and hope that my daughter will take care of her and give her to her daughter after that. Maybe she will gi ve them as much luck as she gives me now. I will try to take care of her and not let her get hurt or lost. She is my best friend and will be the best friend of Vega girls' to come. She not only makes me feel safe and sure of myself she is there to listen to me when no one else will. She isn't here to judge me or tell me right from wrong she is just there to listen and to look at me with her big, sad eyes and let me know that everything will be alright.

Rubi is always there for me and she is the one material possession I have. I love her. She is here for me and will always be. I know even though she Is just a doll I will always treat her like another person.

Society's idea to be attractive is to be nothing less than ideal. To lack perfection is not acceptable in society. Also society tells people how to dress and act, having people be and look a certain way to be accepted. The desire to be accepted can destroy ones’ self-esteem and many lose sight of their own true beauty. Many will do whatever it takes to not be, say, or do what society thinks is disturbing. Marge Piercy’s poem “Barbie Doll,” written in 1973, is a powerful poem about society’s pressure on a young woman. The name carries a lot of meaning because a Barbie doll has long been an icon in society. Although it is a children’s toy, a Barbie doll demonstrates a woman with a perfect body and pure beauty. The poem portrays a summary of a life since birth to the end of life at a funeral. The main character in the poem never has a chance to live life to the fullest because she is always trying to please others and be accepted, which leads to a life of unhappiness. Piercy uses form, diction, and imagery throughout the poem to help imagine the “perfect” woman in the eye of society and the price one may be willing to pay.…

In this essay, I will be talking about a horrid poem called Barbie Doll. The poem Barbie Doll was written by Marge Piercy, who is known as an American writer. This poem was written in 1971 during the second-wave feminism. Marge was born in Detroit, Michigan, in 1936 and the first to attend college in her family. Barbie Doll is about a young girl who grew up like any other American girl, with the all-American Barbie doll. The older the young girl got, a class mate noticed the little girls’ flaws. The class mate told the young girl, "You have a great big nose and fat legs." The self-conscious girl took in what the class mate told her and decided to fix this problem by cutting her nose and thighs off. Although, this little girl got discriminated…

My favorite object is a hand-made purse which I received in Cambodia last winter. As a member of a charitable organization, I signed up for an international voluntary camp and was assigned to Cambodia. This was the first time I traveled abroad. With a huge expectation and a bit of anxiety on the plane, I cannot help imagine what I am going to face later. No sooner had we arrived the local school than the students enthusiastically welcomed us at the gate. We taught some poor children after class to improve their English ability. They were such active students that showed their eagerness to learn. It really touched my heart. I have not only broaden my horizon but have also developed a strong attachment with those innocent kids during the ten days. Therefore, when it came to the day to leave, my eyes were filled with tears and felt rather reluctant to separate from them. To my astonishment, they held a farewell party for us, giving me a knitted colored purse which was made by themselves.…

Precious objects tend to bring back a feeling of joy and a flashback of sudden memory. Usually, many may consider a precious object as one of a kind or irreplaceable and unique. That’s not quite the situation for me. My meaningful objects are simply a cup of Cheerios and coffee that my grandma would put together for me as a breakfast treat after every night I spent with her.…

Hangul or the Kashmir Stag was once available in large number in the Kashmir valley across present day India and Pakistan. The initial surveys done in before 1950s revealed the Hangul population to be more than 5000. But a shocking survey published by E. P. Gee in 1957 revealed that only 400 specimens of the Kashmir Stag is surviving in the region. The species immediately got attention and considered as one of the rarest mammal in Indian subcontinent. Despite various efforts, the Hangul population still stands at alarming 220 according to 2011 survey. The current political imbalance of Kashmir, overgrazing of cattle into Hangul’s territory, loss of habitat are attributed for the endangered status of the animal. It is currently confined to only Dachigam National Park located on foothills of Zabarwan range of Kashmir.…
