Fall 2014 English 101 Calendar

English 101-01 (10428 ) M/W from 8:30-9:45 (216G)
English 101-09 ( 10436) M/W from 10:00 – 11:15 (211G)

This is your assignment calendar. Please print one copy to keep with the Assignment Instructions (here in CONTENT of D2L). Also, save a copy of both to your flash drive or desktop to have a backup copy just in case. Because the assignments are given to you the first day of class and because all assignment locations open a week before the due date, there is no excuse for not having assignments completed on time and according to instructions. All assignments will lock the minute after the due date and time.
Plan ahead. Do not wait until the assignment is due to try to complete it. All assignments are open one week before the due date. You will not have time to ask questions, nor will you have time to react in case of the unforeseen if you are not completing assignments on time.
Mark off your assignments as you complete them. Before you mark off an assignment, double check that it posted. Please make sure you are happy with your assignments BEFORE you post them. People get confused when students post an assignment multiple times.
Workshops cannot be made up for any reason. You must be present and active in class to participate in workshops. If an emergency prevents you from being able to participate in workshop, you can earn partial credit by posting your workshop paper in the discussion forum if two people respond with your feedback (you must request me to open a DF for you BEFORE the missed workshop). The first two people to post the feedback can earn EC for doing so.
From the Daily category, I will drop the lowest grade at the end of the course. This will help to make up for an assignment you miss or on which you do not do well.
I advise you to correct your essays (as a new “corrected” file) as you get feedback so you are not swamped for the Final Portfolio. This way, you will already have most of the work

All assignments MUST be submitted by the deadline. If you think you will not be able to submit your assignment in time (because of illness or bereavement) you must contact your instructor in advance and NOT on the due date for the assignment. If the assignment is not received within 15 minutes by the specified deadline it will be counted as missed and will not be graded (you will receive 0% for that assignment). If you know you cannot meet the assigned deadline for any reason, contact your instructor as soon as possible to make alternate arrangements.…

Read the Weekly Calendar carefully each week for instructions on locating assignments and on where to post them. All assignments are to be posted to the correct discussion board forum. You will not email your assignments to me unless you and I have made arrangements for you to do so (for example, early submission or in the event of computer problems). If you are experiencing problems with Blackboard, however, it is always acceptable for you to email your assignment to me on time as a backup. Note: I highly recommend that you complete your assignments in your word processing program and then copy and paste them into the textbox of your posting or attach them. You risk losing work that is typed directly into the textbox in the case of system or computer…
