Prepare a list of mistakes that the expert made in his expert witnessing engagement.
One of the mistake that Calvin made was lying about his experience in testifying in court other than the divorce court and he lie about having experience in financial analysis. Calvin also make the mistake by not reading before signing the engagement letter. Calvin uses his medical bill amount to charge the dental insurance and medical, the three weeks’ vacation, and two weeks of sick that was included in the plaintiff lost wages. After he added up the amount, it came up to $31,700.
As an expert witness, after reviewing the information giving to you, you are supposed to prepare an expert report. But in Calvin’s case, he did not even know what an export report his or how to do that. He was calling his friends and asking them how to prepare an expert report. That is another mistake he also made by not researching before proceeding in working on the assignment.
Another mistake that Calvin made was when Mr. Doright him about the social security taxes, workers compensation, unemployment insurance, and pension benefit. As an inexperience expert, when the question was ask by Doright, He did not know what to say and was speechless. At that point he came up with some random answer. Calvin respond was that the “the social security and unemployment insurance are taxes, so no, and she voluntarily withdrew all of her vested pension funds and lived on them after his termination so she gave up and potential gain they might have had.” At that moment the jury and even M. Doright new that he was not an experience expert like he claim he was and doesn’t know what he was doing or taking
