Mul The Little Mermaid
Did you know that it took 1,650 pounds of brewed coffee to finish the movie, “Mulan” ?

“Mulan”, the movie was made in June, 19, 1998. “The Little Mermaid”, the movie was made in November, 17, 1989. This movie is older than the movie, “Mulan”.
The movie, “Mulan”, is a real story of an ancient Chinese poem.“Mulan” the character, sacrifices herself to the army for her father. Mulan disguises herself as a man to join the army to go to war for her father. “Ariel” from The Little Mermaid, also sacrifices her identity as a mermaid to be a human. Ariel wanted to marry a human, but her father tries to get Ariel to resist them. These movies compared has both similarities and differences. Both movies sacrifices identities.
Woman to man, and mermaid to human. Mulan is a better role model to the youth, because she shows courage, loyalty, and she is heroic.

Mulan is a better role model because she shows courage. When Li-Shang and the others found out that Mulan was actually a female, Li-Shang kicked Mulan out of the team. The courageous part is when she fights the Huns back after Li-Shang kicked Mulan out. Instead of Mulan walking away from the fight, Mulan fought the Huns to save the Chinese Empire.
She wasn’t scared of the Huns, she actually defeated the Huns, Shan-Yu.
Ariel also has the courage, but hasn’t shown it

The good part of Mulan leaving is that she has saved China, sacrificed herself for her father, and now has a boyfriend! Ariel on the other side, she wasn’t loyal to her father. She left her father to marry a human. Ariel is not really loyal. I prefer Ariel’s friend, “Flounder”, he is more loyal than Ariel, and loyal to Ariel. I would call Ariel rebellious than loyal, because she does the opposite of what mermaids do and she doesn’t listen very well. This statement proves Mulan is very loyal, and more loyal that

The same hero wearing a different mask appears throughout great literature and films. The “hero’s journey” motif, as Joseph Campbell, the acclaimed American mythology professor and famous author identified, has been present in all cultures since the first documented stories. From Odysseus and the other great figures of the ancient Greek myths to the more modern character of Frodo in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the audience essentially accompanies the same hero throughout a series of stages and obstacles that compose the original heroic journey. The hero’s journey can be particularly followed in the various animated Disney films that give existence to some of the most loved heroes of all time. For instance, the successful film, Aladdin, released in 1992 and directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, brings to the public the interesting journey of a young man on a quest to find himself. The character of Aladdin fits the profile of the hero as he embarks in the hero’s journey unintentionally but proves to have undergone a complete maturation of character while attaining valuable insight about his true nature and worth by the end of the adventure.…

I agree that Mulan is a great example of the monomyth. It has many of the archetypes mentioned in the Hero's Journey. It also follows the plot analyzed in the monomyth. However, I don't necessarily agree that the main herald is the discovery that Mulan is a woman. In my opinion, the main herald in her father being called off to war, considering that is what first made Mulan leave her realm of comfort. It is true that the dishonor of being discovered does factor in as a herald later in the film, along with her duty to her county, to tell her to go warn the soldiers that Shan Yu is still alive. Though, that is just my opinion and I did enjoy your opposing point of view. It made me look at Mulan's motivation in a new…

Mulan and Pocahontas were good role models because they are Asian and Native American but they did not help the ethnic boys because the movies were mainly about girls. Also, they were not good models of princesses because they do a lot of manly things such as going to war and fighting for families and they do not look like the regular princesses because they do not wear the casual brightly colored dress. The media has noted them as, “too realistic for kids,”…

She is the hero of the movie because she saved china from being taken over. She first started to become a hero when she snuck out of her house the night before her farther was supposed to leave for war. She put on her fathers armor and left for war. The whole time she was in war she convinced the other soldiers that she was a man.
