Gossip, misinformation, and overhearing shows up right in the beginning and almost destroys some of the relationships, but then it proves itself to be good and ends up saving the relationship in the end of the play. Gossip, misinformation, and overhearing definitely make the story way more interesting, but at the same time, it makes the story sad because it makes one think that somebody great relationship is about to be destroyed! But then it comes back right before the bomb is about to reach the ground and catches it and saves the relationship. Gossip, misinformation, and overhearing make the play very intriguing, funny, and problematic. One person in the play Much Ado About Nothing that is very intriguing is Don John. His evil scheme to break up Don Pedro and Hero is just terrible, but it’s very interesting how he does it. It all started when his sidekick Borachio overheard Don Pedro, Benedick, and Claudio all taking about Don Pedro and Hero’s wedding. That’s how Don John first found out about his brother’s wedding, and that’s when overhearing first came into the play. Once Borachio tells Don John and Comrade, the other sidekick, they come up with a plan. The plan was that Borachio would kiss Margaret, but when Don John, Don Pedro, and Claudio walked by, they thought that Borachio was kissing Hero, who was Don Pedro’s fiancé. It now looked like Hero was cheating on Don Pedro with Borachio. The plan was worked, thanks to misinformation.
