Relationship Boundaries- in the interest of safeguarding children and protecting themselves, staff should establish and maintain appropriate boundaries in theirrelationships with children, their parents/carers and each other.- Staff should not show any favouritism to any particular child/children orfamily.- Staff should treat everyone (including each other) with respect,encouraging team spirit.- Relationships outside of the work place with parents/carers are notencouraged.- The Nursery Manager should be notified immediately if any of the abovesituations should happen.- If a member of staff has any arrangements for babysitting (withparent/carers or for them) this should be notified to the nursery manager,who then would ask the parents to sign a disclaimer to disassociate thenursery from all responsibility.Uniform Dress Code- The Nursery provides a uniform to create a smart image, and to identifyall staff members to all our families and visitors.- All staff and students are to ensure they remain smart in theirappearance, they are expected to adhere to the dress code.- Staff and students need to be aware of their behaviour whilst wearingtheir uniform, both in and outside of work.Behaviour/ Attitude/ Lifestyle- All staff should take responsibility for their role in the nursery and actand behave in a professional manner at all times.- Human Resources must be immediately reported to, if any behaviourwhich is seen to bring the college into disrepute.- We should act as role models to children and parents/carers, staff shouldbe approachable, polite, and respectful whilst on duty.Fit for workWhen we are working with children, it is a very demanding physical rolewhich

    These boundaries and rules should be applied by the practitioners in accordance with the settings and policies procedures. Boundaries are the guidelines, rules or limits which practitioner create for children so they can recognise what is bad and wrong and how the practitioner respond when the child step outside those limits. It is important that in the child setting the practitioner sets the boundaries for the child behaviour so the child understand what is acceptable and what’s not and knows that there will be a consequences of not acting within those boundaries. The children will notice that whatever child do wrong and whoever practitioner is working in the nursery at that time the rules remain the same for everyone. For example children can play with sand and water tray but must clean the sand from the floor after all, they can use a paint board but must wear apron, they can go outside but must wear jackets and hats, they must wash hands before and after lunch. This way of treating everyone the same when applying boundaries will give children feeling of a security and they will not feel confused when they behave inappropriate because they will not what to expect and what sanctions they will get.…

    There are three main types of childcare settings; these are voluntary, statutory and private. Private settings are those which are set up to make the owner a profit. A few examples of these are private day nurseries, childminders, nannies and work place nurseries. The setting I am focusing on is a private day nursery. The nursery opened 1997 and operates from a private home. It is open 49 weeks of the year, opening from 9-6 five days a week. The setting is able to have 24 children on site at one time aged between one and five. The setting ensures that all children are warmly welcomed and ensure a safe and stimulating environment. On their website they say their aim is to promote a “home from home atmosphere”. The staff meets the children’s care and learning needs. This is done by carefully planning activities to meet all children’s needs and abilities. It is important that the staff build a good bond with the children’s parents/ carers as this builds up the trust between them.     The safety and welfare of the children is very important in every setting as indicated in section 3 of the statutory framework for the early year’s foundation stage 2014. All providers must meet the necessary requirements to make sure the children are kept safe and well. In my setting we have three rooms which are the baby room, toddler room and pre-school. As I work in the toddler room I care for children age ranging between 16 months to 27months old. The children to staff ratio is very important as this ensures that the children’s needs and safety is met. If the children are under two years old then we have a staff ratio of 1 adult to 3 children and if the children are over 2 years old then we have a staff ratio of 1 adult to 4 children.
