Mr. Trejo Research Paper
The thought of the “future” scares me, it scares me because I have no clue what to expect, and it’s not like high school anymore to where you can just plan out how it’s going to be, but I sure will try, and I will succeed.
Next year with the grace of god, I will be attending Gordon College in Wenham Massachusetts. Gordon College is a private Christian institution about twenty minutes outside of Boston. At Gordon I will be studying pre-law and getting a Major in social work. I will be getting a major in social work while on the pre law track so that Hopefully one day I can become a family lawyer for the less fortunate. Being a social worker will have numerous unappealing aspects to it, but it’s something I feel strongly about because I feel

Young De Trejo A.K.A momma. I met Mrs. Trejo my sophomore year due to having joined our theatre UIL program here at Sam Houston. At first glance during contest mode Mrs. Trejo can be very scary and intimidating, but really she is assertive and truly caring just like any mother would be. Ms. Trejo was a blessing soon to come. Throughout these past three years I have went through a multitude of things and one of the only people to be there for me was Mrs. Trejo. She was not only there for me but she cared for me like I was one of her own children, and she was like his with our whole theatre group. While not only being a caring mother figure Mrs. Trejo has also been a great and inspiring acting coach and theatre teacher. When first joining the theatre program I had stage fright and had never acted before but when Mrs. Trejo was done with me I was a completely different person, I am now outgoing and love to be on stage portraying characters of all kinds. Mrs. Trejo doesn’t get enough recognition for what she does because she does more than almost anyone I know. For this I want to say Thank you Mrs. Trejo for all that you have done and continue to do, your truly a blessing, I love you and thank

“From door to door in forty-five minutes” was a common term heard around Treblinka, one of the most terrifying places on earth from July 1942 to November 1943. Forty-five minutes was the expected time to process and kill the prisoners coming off the trains from all parts of Poland. Treblinka, and many other camps, served as the final destination for many people, most notably the Jewish people. Stories of survival from Treblinka are rare, as there are only seventy known survivors, all but one, Samuel Willenberg, have since passed on. His story along with Kalman Taigman, are two of the most famous from Treblinka, but both have very different stories from one another. Nearly a million or more Jews were exterminated by the ovens of Treblinka by August 1943. The Holocaust was a standardized state-sponsored imprisonment and murder of over six million Jews. The Nazis who came to power in Germany in January 1933 believed that Germans were "racially superior". Though very few prisoners survived this time, those few survivors bared witness to man’s courage in the face of the greatest evil human history has ever produced. The conditions and treatment given to the prisoners of the Holocaust are some of the most painful, critical, and disturbing time periods throughout the world.…

"By about 6,000 years ago, people in Mexico had domesticated a tropical grass called teosinte, beginning a process that would radically alter the plant, turning into maize, responsible for feeding people across the world today" (Zorich, 2015). As we know food today is much different than thousands of years ago in the lives of our ancestors. There have been many changes to our food that we consume today, especially in regards to corn. Everyone loves a sweet, tender "corn on the cob" in the summer time. Although this piece of food is delicious, it has been through numerous mutations to get to what is in modern society. By the 1400s, corn was a staple in the diet of those in Mexico and the Americas according to Jo Robinson' article (Robinson). The corn in the early days was to be known as Teosinte. It contained, little, sugar, a lot of starch and protein compared to the corn we see today, which is of a white, yellow color. The corn today lacks the nutrients, much of what teosinte contained.…

In considering which path to take in graduate school, I immediately had a flashback to when I would travel with my mother and care for my younger siblings while she worked as a counselor to provide assistance with psychosocial support and mental health care to communities, families and individuals in conflict and post-conflict situations. Having the opportunity to observe her and the organization change so many people’s lives while providing them with hope, planted the seed of nurturing and counseling in my heart. Since middle school I have devoted my time to taking on every opportunity that comes my way to volunteer with helping my community better the lives of our youths.…

Hello Dr. Aaron Oberman and fellow classmates. I’m excited to be taken this course because I’m almost at the finish line of completing my degree. I have been working in social services for almost 15 years helping adults meeting their needs while aiming at becoming self-sufficient. I enjoy my job, but I’m burned out, meaning my job no longer brings me the same satisfactions as it did 15 years ago. I reevaluated my life giving consideration to my age, family and happiness and decided it was time for a career change. As an undergrad student, I recall an instructor telling us in life most people will have a job and a career. Social Services is currently my job and school counseling will be my career. With age I have learned helping others…

I believe that I have put together a strong program which will serve me well as I continue in my career in the Human Services field. By the time I am done with my degree, I would have incorporated these attributes into my…

My main concentration right now in my life is my career in Human Services. The education that I am receiving at California State University Dominguez Hills has definitely changed the way I think in regards to people in the society and it has also giving me a background of problems I will run into and what I can do to solve it. I have learned that helping people will never be an easy job and that it can be stressful and frustrating. I will always remember to be patient, respectful, genuine, honest, and maintain myself neutral. My goal is to help as many people as I can and make an impact in their life and get them the help they need. I think it’s important to respect and understand other people point of view especially if they are different than yours. I believe that understanding where our clients come from will help us understand them and get them the help they need. I believe in self-determination and helpers should always remember that it’s our clients decisions what they want in life and we can’t force them to change. My goal for next year is to graduate and get my Bachelor degree. My education is important and I take every experience and opportunity to learn and grow into my career.…

    1. My main objective in terms of my career path is to work with diverse communities, specifically I would like to become a caseworker and work with immigrant and refugee communities to help them gain access to services and feel at home in their community. I think it is important that in every branch of social work there are individuals who are compassionate towards diverse populations and experience working with individuals whose first language is not English. Because of this, I am interested in pursuing a graduate degree in Clinical Social Work. My undergraduate majors are English Literature and Spanish, which at first do not seem like areas of focus which would naturally lead me into a career in social work, but honestly…

In my past, I saw, felt and listened through a black and white world. Now I have a paintbrush to create the vision of my future with color. On occasion, I take the time to reflect back. I think about how my past weaknesses have accumulated to create personal strengths. I have become an excellent student who values education. I have broadened myself through activities such as establishing a Sign Language Club at my high school, attending Boy’s State and getting involved in the local community theater. These are only a few of my achievements I never thought possible. Now my dream is to pursue Child Psychology so that I may reach young people as I draw from my own experiences.
